Wine Advocate (96)Dense ruby/purple, with a glorious nose of blackberries, cassis, white flowers, licorice, and a hint of sweet oak, this seamless wine is a classic example of purity and symmetry. Combining power with charm and finesse in a deeply textured, rich, elegant, yet authoritatively flavorful style, this is a brilliant effort as well as a compliment to proprietor Christian Moueix. |

Wine Advocate (94)I have always thought this was the best Fleur de Gay since the 1989 and 1990, and it showed extremely well in the 2000 horizontal tastings. Dense ruby/purple, with notes of melted caramel and mocha, along with raspberry and blueberry, the wine has that endearing combination of elegance and power. Layered and multi-dimensional, with silky, sweet tannins, the wine seems to have hit full maturity, where it should last for another 20 or more years. This is a beautiful wine. |

Decanter (100)A legendary wine, with reason. I have only tasted this once, at the home of a very kind friend, exactly as it should be drunk – over a dinner table, where it managed to stop the conversation. It is still young, just now starting to open up to reveal its dazzling array of black and blue fruits, black olives, truffles and well-defined tannins exerting an influence over the structure. The mineral slate side of Lafleur is now fully in its stride, tugging you back as you reach the end, keeping you hanging on for more. |

Wine Advocate (87)The 2000 Lagrange is a spicy, tannic, firmly structured Pomerol that recalls the 1975. There is admirable stuffing , but astringent tannin and a closed, firm overall personality suggest patience will be a virtue. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2014. |

Wine Spectator (95)A wine with a reserved, yet complex nose of blackberries, raspberries and flowers. Full-bodied, with silky tannins and a soft, sweet fruit finish. A beautiful wine to taste. Hard not to drink this. Best I have had in years. The real thing. Better than the 1998. Best after 2010. 3,200 cases made. -JS |

Wine Spectator (96)Distinctive, with a flash of menthol giving way to a beam of lightly mulled raspberry fruit that carries on through the finish, easily holding sway over the hints of bramble, licorice snap and warm plum compote. Just a touch sedate in feel, perhaps, but if you were a wine with this kind of fruit to burn, wouldn't you just kick back and let it groove too?—Blind 2000 Bordeaux retrospective (December 2015). Drink now through 2030. 500 cases made. — JM |

Vinous - Stephen Tanzer (90-92)Bright, deep ruby. Floral, perfumed aromas of blackberry, boysenberry, cherry, violet pastille, mint and shoe polish; I find strong merlot and cabernet character here, which makes for a complex nose indeed. Lush, dense and rather high-pitched; a lovely combination of sheer fruit and finesse. Still youthfully backward, but already shows superb sucrosity and silkiness of texture. Almost no sign of the new oak today. Solidly structured Pomerol, finishing long and subtle, with a note of chocolatey torrefaction. The tannins hit the palate late and coat the back of the mouth. This offers terrific potential. |

Wouha ! |

Wine Enthusiast (96)This is likely to be one of the most long-lived Pomerol from 2000. It has hugely rich fruit, it is has great density. But what will give it its longevity is the layer of tannin that sits, brooding, in the middle of the wine. Don't even attempt to drink before 2012. |
