Vinous - Neal Martin (91)The 2020 Château Angludet is the product of a crop that suffered frost damage earlier in the season with a reduced percentage of Merlot. It has a lovely nose, maybe not quite as "brisk" as I described out of barrel, yet harmonious with those appealing black fruit laced with iris flower and violet. The palate is medium-bodied, the 30% aging in amphora imparting the spiciness, the liberal dose of black pepper towards the still gritty finish. Lovely length, lovely Margaux, lovely d'Angludet. |

The La Cloitre Prieure Lichine Margaux 2020 is an exemplar expression of the celebrated Margaux appellation. Inspired by the 12th-century legacy of the Prieuré-Lichine estate, this wine is crafted with utmost precision at every stage. Born of the ideally draining gravelly soil and favourably tempered microclimate of Bordeaux, France, it encapsulates the quintessence of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grape blend. With every sip, expect a cascade of luscious blackcurrant, dark cherry, and velvety tannin notes. The 18-month maturation in oak barrels adds a delicate hint of vanilla, rounding up a sophisticated palate. This bottle epitomises the acumen of Ballarin family and winemaker Stephane Derenoncourt, whose philosophy of minimal intervention and sustainable viticulture empowers the terroir to flourish, sculpting the uniqueness of La Cloitre Prieure Lichine Margaux 2020. Committed to remarkable quality and longevity, this wine continues to evolve in the bottle, promising a compelling journey of sensory discovery for the discerning connoisseur. |

Jeb Dunnuck (93-95)I continue to love the wines from this estate in Margaux, and the 2020 Château Labegorce is no exception. Rock star crème de cassis, graphite, roasted herbs, iron, and loamy earth nuances all define the bouquet, and it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, a relatively soft, plush, forward style, good mid-palate density, and wonderful purity of fruit. It’s going to benefit from 3-5 years of bottle age and drink nicely for 15-20 years. It should be a terrific value as well. |
