Jeb Dunnuck (96-98+)I continue to love the wines from this estate, and the 2020 Château Clinet is no exception. Straight-up sensational notes of blueberries, cassis, violets, tobacco, and earth all emerge from the glass, and this beauty is full-bodied, with a rich, concentrated mid-palate, flawless balance, and a great finish. It shows the tighter, fresher, more focused style of the vintage, yet it still brings plenty of mid-palate depth as well as an expansive texture. It has enough oak to warrant short-term bottle age but will have 25-30 years of overall longevity. This is a gorgeous wine. |

Vinous - Neal Martin (91)The 2020 Croix-Canon was impressive out of barrel; it contains the highest-ever percentage of Cabernet Franc due to the mildew-affected Merlot. With a well-defined bouquet, it shows beautiful clarity, dark berry fruit commingling with boysenberry and just a hint of pressed iris flower. The palate is medium-bodied with crunchy black fruit, silky smooth and a very fine thread of acidity with a refined, quite saline finish. This is a Deuxième Vin with pedigree. |

Vinous - Neal Martin (91)The 2020 Clos Cantenac has an intense nose with blackberry and blueberry notes, and that camphor scent remains tangible. The palate is simple but offers attractive pencil lead touches that impart complexity and personality. One could argue that it's a bit disheveled on the finish, where you would seek more precision. Otherwise, this is a commendable Saint-Émilion that should be granted three to four years in bottle. It punches just a notch above expectations. |

Jeb Dunnuck (94-96)Pure crème de cassis, tobacco, black cherries, lead pencil, and a wonderful sense of minerality emerge from the 2020 Clos Du Marquis, and it's medium to full-bodied, with a pure, elegant texture, plenty of ripe tannins, and the vibrant, focused, lengthy style of the vintage front and center. It's going to need 4-6 years of bottle age, possibly more, but the balance, purity, and precision are all brilliant. The blend is 61% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Merlot, and the rest Cabernet Franc, raised in 40% new French oak. The technical information checks in with the alcohol at 13.57%, pH of 3.76, and an IPT of 84. This will be a long-lived Saint-Julien! |

A magical, perfumed bouquet of red plums, black cherries, white truffle, and white flowers just screams Saint-Emilion, and it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, flawless overall balance, a dense mid-palate, and a liqueur of rocks-like minerality on the palate. Building incrementally with time in the glass, this is thrilling stuff that should offer some up-front appeal in its youth yet benefit from 7-8 years in the cellar and keep for 30 years or more. Bravo! The blend is 90% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 3% Cabernet Franc that’s still resting in 50% new French oak. |

Vinous - Neal Martin (91)The 2020 Clos Manou, one-third aged in concrete, has closed down a little after bottle, yet still, it has a gorgeous bouquet with red berry fruit, blood orange and subtle sous-bois aromas. Vinous - Antonio Galloni (90-92)The 2020 Clos Marsalette opens with a blast of dark cherry fruit, smoke, gravel, licorice and incense. A big, broad wine Clos Marsalette offers tremendous intensity from start to finish. I imagine it will require at least a few years in bottle to fully come together as the tannins are pretty incisive at this stage. Even so, Clos Marsalette is a super-expressive Pessac Léognan with a good deal of potential. |

Crushed red berry fruit, blood orange, mint, cinnamon and rose petal are all beautifully delineated. Medium in body yet deep, with mind-blowing balance, Clos Saint-Martin is a flat-out stunner. |

Jeb Dunnuck (97-99)One of the biggest successes on the upper plateau is the 2020 Château Clos Fourtet, and it does everything right in the vintage. |

James Suckling (96-97)A Pomerol with gorgeous crushed-berry, walnut, hazelnut and chocolate character, as well as a full body with ultra fine tannins that frame the wine beautifully. Extremely long finish. Three super wines in a row since 2018. |

Vinous - Antonio Galloni (91-93)The 2020 Clos La Gaffelière is a super attractive second wine. It is a bit darker and more overt than the Grand Vin, both of which lend quite a bit of immediacy. Black cherry, plum, spice, chocolate and leather build nicely in the glass. This supple, juicy Saint-Émilion will drink well right out of the gate. |

Vinous - Neal Martin (91)The 2020 Clos Manou, one-third aged in concrete, has closed down a little after bottle, yet still, it has a gorgeous bouquet with red berry fruit, blood orange and subtle sous-bois aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with tannins that have firmed up since I tasted this from barrel - rendering a more "serious" Médoc that will require a little more aging than I estimated. Very fine. |

Vinous - Antonio Galloni (95)The 2020 Clos Saint-Martin is quite simply a different wine from what I tasted en primeur. Racy and yet super-finessed, the 2020 is a Saint-Émilion of exquisite beauty. Crushed red berry fruit, blood orange, mint, cinnamon and rose petal are all beautifully delineated. Medium in body yet deep, with mind-blowing balance, Clos Saint-Martin is a flat-out stunner. |
