Wine Advocate (79)This herbaceous, light to medium-bodied wine is cleanly made but has no substance or depth. In addition, the finish is attenuated. It is a disappointment. Drink it over the first decade of life. |

Exhibiting all the mastery of fine wine craftsmanship, the La Croix Toulifaut 2001 is a significant offering from the tranquil Bordeaux region of France. Historically hailed for its deep vineyard roots and passionately cultured, this wine encapsulates the finest sense of terroir and viticulture. Produced by the reputable Château de Toulifaut, a wine estate notorious for its exquisite blends and uniquely nuanced flavours, this vintage is a testament to old-world winemaking traditions. Depicting a brilliant maroon hue, the La Croix Toulifaut 2001 is concocted with careful selection of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, contributing to its balanced and eloquent character. The wine's bouquet is imbued with luscious dark fruit, overlayed with hints of subtle spice and a velvety finish. Maturation in oak barrels imparts undertones of smoky vanilla, pairing beautifully with the intricate grape blend. Vinous - Neal Martin (90)The 2008 Pensées de Lafleur has a well-defined, smoke and truffle-tinged bouquet that is pretty and elegant, a wine that has clearly opened up in the last couple of years. The palate is medium-bodied with fine grain tannin, very focused with gentle grip in the mouth. The fruit is on the darker side laced with smoke and black pepper, fanning out gently towards the finish that remains very composed. Excellent. Tasted blind at Farr Vintners’ 10-Year On tasting. |

Wine Spectator (95)A truly classic Pétrus and comparable to the '88, '86 and '82. Showy and impressive with excellent use of new oak. It delivers loads of toasty coconut and chocolate flavors balanced by plum and blackberry notes. Incredible concentration for the vintage. Supple, long finish. Try after 2000. - |
