Vinous (89)Bright, dark red. Slightly high-toned aromas of dark cherry, menthol, earth, leather and minerals; I might have guessed Nuits-Saint-Georges. Surprisingly supple and sweet in the mouth, offering considerable early appeal. Not especially complex but nicely full and satisfying. Finishes with substantial dusty tannins and lingering suggestions of leather and saline minerality. This wine was vinified with 40% whole clusters. |

Vinous (96)The 2017 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru has a lifted, perfumed and quite floral bouquet of brambly red fruit infused with wilted rose petal and a touch of blood orange. Gorgeous! The palate is medium-bodied with fine structure, a killer line of acidity and perhaps some discreet stem addition, as it is overtly peppery toward the finish. Plenty of freshness and quite linear. Classic Burgundy. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2017 tasting. |

Vinous (95-97)The 2021 Musigny Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru underwent a picked piecemeal from the 30 different plots to find the best order that actually was linked to vine age. It has a gorgeous bouquet with brambly red fruit, loam, blood oranges and subtle graphite aromas. Superb delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grain tannins, fresh citrus like acidity, tensile and focused. This is a very classic, mineral-driven Musigny with surfeit of salinity that gets the saliva flowing on the finish. So bright on the finish. |

Wine Advocate (90-92)The 2014 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru includes around 35% whole bunch fruit and around 60% new oak. It has an open, quite transparent bouquet with mineral-tinged black fruit, a hint of Seville orange marmalade lurking in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannin that lends this Bonnes-Mares good backbone and a little more masculinity than previous vintages. I like the density here, but it just needs to flow a little more towards the strict, linear finish. |

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (92-95)50% Whole Bunch Fermentation; 80% new wood. A blend across many plots, including two younger vines which bring a little bit of volume and freshness. Dense dark purple, a little bit lifted on the nose, yet still clearly ripe. The oak shows more. Touch of raisins and drier finish, this is just coping. Not noble enough though. |

Fougeray Beauclair Bonnes Mares Grand Cru 2017 is a masterpiece delicate Pinot Noir from the Côte de Nuits subregion of Burgundy, France. This vineyard, under the thoughtful stewardship of Patrice Olivier, produces only a limited quantity of this opulent wine that's redolent with complex aromas of ripe cherries, truffle, and earthy undertones. The vineyard has an eastward exposure and limestone-clay soil, ideal for growing the Pinot Noir grapes that are manually picked before undergoing a traditional Burgundian winemaking process. The wine is aged in 100% new oak, for 18 months, enhancing its rich, palate-coating flavours of red fruit, spices and toasty notes. The Fougeray Beauclair Bonnes Mares Grand Cru 2017 offers a long and grace-filled finish, a testament to the meticulous care and patience of its production. A remarkable display of Burgundian excellence, making it a coveted addition to any discerning connoisseur’s cellar. |

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (96-100)All three cuvées, white soil, red soil and the new plot, have been blended. Overall two-thirds of the blend comes from white soil Bonnes Mares. Two thirds whole bunch, one third new wood. Glowing rich purple, with a beautiful bouquet demonstrating exquisitely balanced fruit. Ripe of course but there are some red threads in with the darker fruit, fine acidity too, just a sumptuous covering of exquisite dark raspberry and a little touch of blackberry. Bravo! There is a lovely covering of flesh on top of natural vivacity. |

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (97-99)Beginning with the hugely deep but very fresh purple colour, The Roumier 2019 Bonnes Mares shows its majesty from the outset. The nose is backward, but clear and pure. It is much more in pure deep raspberry and less wild on the nose than it can be. Such harmony on the palate, this is exquisite, a very noble Bonnes Mares with optimum purity and one of the most persistent finishes of the year. Brilliant! |

Wine Advocate (89-91)The 2015 Chambolle-Musigny Les Bussières includes a small proportion of whole bunch fruit. It has a harmonious bouquet with red cherries and pomegranate aromas. This should give ten years of pleasure, possibly more. |

Vinous (92)Bright cherry-red. Tangy, stony aromas of raspberry, coffee and pungent spices, plus a liqueur-like suggestion of confiture. Silky and pure in the mouth, with wonderfully sweet, suave fruit that demonstrates superb freshness for the vintage. Finishes long, generous and vibrant. The fruit began with 14% potential alcohol, and the wine was bottled at 13.5%; in comparison, the '98 Mugnier Musigny was chaptalized from 12.3% to 12.9%. But this is not at all a weighty wine. |

Vinous (91-94)Medium red with ruby highlights. Very fresh, highly aromatic nose combines blackberry, black cherry, violet and crushed rock. Juicy and tightly wound on first taste but essentially creamy in the middle palate, displaying lovely black fruit and floral perfume. Just a tad warm today at 13.5% alcohol but this should turn out very well. |

Vinous (97)The 2016 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru contains 100% whole cluster and is matured in one-third new oak. It has a really beautiful bouquet that you could easily mistake for Christophe Roumier’s: blackberry, blueberry, a hint of crushed violet and fine mineralité. The palate is medium-bodied with plenty of fine-grain tannin, the new oak perfectly sutured into the black and blue fruit with superb delineation and focus towards the silky smooth finish. This is one of the best 2016s Bonnes-Mares that I have tasted, if not the best. |

Vinous (93-95)The 2018 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru is raised in 25% new oak and is almost entirely made from whole bunches. That stem addition gently guides the aromatics here, imparting a subtle pepperiness and earthiness that combines deftly with the vivid black fruit; perhaps there is less blue fruit here compared to other Bonnes-Mares this vintage. The palate is well balanced with supple tannins and a fine bead of acidity, reminiscent of de Vogüé in some ways. The slightly confit finish manages to retain impressive freshness. It is missing a little persistence, but otherwise this is a fine, quite delicious Bonnes-Mares. |

Vinous (97)The 2016 Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses 1er Cru has a tightly wound bouquet with red cherries, raspberry and touches of crushed strawberry. The wine comes across as well defined if just missing some joie-de-vivre that thankfully evolves with time. Conservative for an Amoureuses, but that is a virtue because there is a beguiling effortlessness here. And that translates across to the palate: very well judged acidity, structured and with disarming purity and elegance on the sensual finish. Complete. Stunning.
