Proudly presenting the illustrious Alain Michelot Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Vaucrains 2015. A newly crowned gem in the heart of Burgundy, it's the handiwork of Alain Michelot; a custodian of centuries-old vineyards spanning eight hectares in Nuits-Saint-Georges. This meticulously crafted Pinot Noir boasts a seamless meld of tradition and modernity, nurtured in French oak barrels for an enchanting blend of sophistication and quality. The craftsmanship unfolds in a profound, velvet palate layered with ripe cherries, wild strawberries, distinct hints of earth, truffles and a firm tannic structure that promises excellent ageing potential. Anchoring a subtle hint of minerality, the terroir distinctly shines through each sip. It's a testament to the commune's world-renowned reputation to produce quality red wine with a delicate, yet densely fruity character. The Alain Michelot Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Vaucrains 2015 illuminates expertise and artistry, promising an unforgettable dance of flavours and fragrances for every discerning palate. |

Wine Advocate (93)The 2015 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Clos des Corvées Pagets, one of Domaine Arnoux-Lachaux's emblematic wines, wafts from the glass with a complex bouquet of plums, candied peel, violets and raspberries. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and complete, with a deep core of fruit, crystalline purity, and fine-grained but chalky tannins. Structurally, this is classic Premeaux. |

Vinous (89-91)Bright, dark red. Attractive lift to the raspberry and floral aromas; this could hardly be more different from the village Gevrey. At once dense and creamy-sweet, conveying very good energy to the dark berry and floral flavors. Finishes bright and long, with substantial ripe, dusty tannins. Cheurlin produced just 29 hectoliters per hectares here, owing to the estate's high percentage of old vines. |

Decanter (94)One of the denser and more concentrated wines in the Gouges line up in 2017, this comes from a 0.98ha site on famously poor soils. Showing good texture and weight with sweet raspberry and black cherry fruit, it's supported by acidity, medium-weight tannins and a spicy finish. |

Wine Advocate (93+)Mugnier's 2015 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Clos de la Maréchale is a terrific success in the 2015 vintage and is strongly reminiscent of the excellent 2005 rendition, opening in the glass with aromas of creamy cassis, ripe cherry, dark chocolate and grilled squab. On the palate, the wine is deep, full-bodied and sapid, with succulent acids, an ample chassis of rich tannins and excellent length. This is one of the rare cases of a great Burgundy from a great domaine that is available in some volume, and no one should fixate on Mugnier's Chambolles at the expense of this lovely Nuits. |

Vinous (91-93)The 2017 Nuits Saint-Georges Clos de la Maréchale 1er Cru, which is usually the first to be picked, has a really delightful bouquet, very expressive and displaying fine mineralité. The precise, detailed palate is well balanced, offering mineral tension, a fine line of acidity and a crisp, vibrant finish. Superb. |

Burghound (91-94)This is riper still with liqueur-like dark berry fruit aromas that are liberally laced with spice, earth and game nuances. There is outstanding richness and volume to the seductively textured mid-palate that contrasts markedly with the firm, serious and ever-so-mildly rustic finale that is very Nuits in character. |

Burghound (91-93)As it should, this presently has an entirely different aromatic profile with its ripe and fresh combination of earth and sauvage characters together with both red and dark currant scents. Here too there is really lovely mouth feel to the tautly muscular flavors that exude a subtle minerality on the energetic, detailed and beautifully persistent finish. This is also admirably seamless and should amply reward extended keeping. |

Wine Advocate (93)Offering up a deep bouquet of cassis, plums, dark chocolate and spices, the 2017 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Clos des Forêts St Georges is medium to full-bodied, supple and enveloping, with a textural attack, melting tannins, ripe acids and a deep core of sapid fruit. The finish is impressively long and nicely defined. Deeper and fleshier than the more ethereal Clos d'Arlot, this will blossom with a little bottle age, but it's sufficiently elegant and expressive to be approachable sooner. |

Vinous (96)Tasted next to the Vignerondes, the 2015 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Boudots is quite a bit fleshier. Silky tannins and soft, racy curves give the Boudots much of its distinctive personality. This is a decidedly sumptuous style of Nuits. Although it is naturally an infant, today the Boudots is absolutely stellar. I loved it. |

Vinous (90-92)Medium red. Less fruity and more medicinal on the nose than the Vaucrains, offering complex scents of dark raspberry, dried flowers, mocha and earth. Then plush, silky and fine-grained on the palate, offering lovely floral lift to its raspberry fruit. The firm tannins turn a touch dry with air. (This cuvée is not vinified by Jadot.) |

Decanter (95)This premier cru's position on the south side of Nuits, just below Les Perrières, means that it has a high limestone content and it shows in the freshness of the resulting wine. Vinous (94)The 2015 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Pruliers 1er Cru has a temptress of a nose, with open, welcoming red cherry, crushed strawberry and subtle mineral scents. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannin. There is plenty of tightly knitted fruit here, and a patina of oak that is still to be assimilated, but also wonderful detail and subtlety on the sublime, sophisticated finish. This has enormous potential. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting. (DIAM 10 closure) |

Wine Advocate (92)The 2017 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Clos de Thorey is showing beautifully, wafting from the glass with a lovely bouquet of cherries, wild berries and cassis, mingled with notes of raw cocoa, cinnamon and sweet forest floor. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, deep and velvety, with a sappy core of nicely concentrated fruit, melting tannins and lively acids. Exemplifying the elegant style of contemporary Domaine de la Vougeraie, this has turned out very well. |
