Wine Spectator (91)A subtle, concentrated, graceful wine, offering a band of cherry, spice, oak and plum-tinged flavors that bring out vanilla, nutmeg and brown sugar notes on the finish. It's also firmly tannic and backward now, so it's a good candidate for the cellar. |

Vinous (93)The 1989 Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses 1er Cru has a fragrant bouquet with lovely floral/incense and iris aromas that combine beautifully with the black cherry and boysenberry scents, a little iodine emerging later. The palate is very well balanced with good depth, again quite floral in style with supple tannin. Maybe it lacks the elegance of the 2002 Les Amoureuses but it feels velvety smooth and offers just perfect salinity on the finish that makes you coming back for another sip. For me, this outflanks the 1989 Bonnes-Mares. Excellent. Tasted blind at the Roumier dinner in Hong Kong. |

Every sip of the exquisite Jacky Truchot Clos de la Roche Grand Cru 1989 is an indulgence in the superior craftsmanship of this revered Burgundy producer. Crafted in the idyllic and renowned vineyards of Morey-Saint-Denis, this grand cru is the epitome of Truchot's esoteric and skilled winemaking. The possession of rare old vines and Truchot's traditionalist non-interventionist approach gives birth to this nectar, powered by a backbone of earthy Pinot Noir. Its complex bouquet of dark fruits, delicate floral notes and evolving layers of exotic spices promises a delightful olfactory experience, whilst the generous palate presents incredible depth, richness, and an exceptional finish. This expression of outstanding elegance and undeniable longevity is a testament to Truchot's skilful finesse. The Jacky Truchot Clos de la Roche Grand Cru 1989 is indeed an unparalleled guest at the table of a refined wine connoisseur. |
