Wine Advocate (92-94)The 2015 Clos de la Roche Grand Cru has a voluminous and extravagant bouquet with blooms of red berry fruit, although I found myself more drawn to the complex and intellectual Clos Saint-Denis. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy tannin. This is a masculine, assertive Clos de la Roche, quite saline in the mouth with a feisty, spicy finish. This is a fine grand cru from Louis Jadot, though not one of their top releases this vintage. |

Wine Advocate (90-92)The 2015 Chambolle Musigny 1er Cru les Chabiots has an attractive nose marked by scents of morello cherry, wet limestone and almost Alpine-fresh aromas. There is something airy about the aromatics here. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red berry fruit, cohesive in the mouth with fine structure on the finish that maintains commendable precision. This will be well worth investigating once in bottle - one of Bichot's more sophisticated offerings in this vintage. |

Vinous (90+)Healthy dark red. Pure but reticent nose offers scents of dark berries and licorice pastille; at once slightly liqueur-like and fresh. Rich, fine-grained and sweet, but a bit less fruity and stylish than the 2016 version. This is ultimately tighter and more powerful and built to age. Doesn't show the finesse of the 2016 version in the early going but avoids coming across as hard. |

Vinous (91)(the yield here was about 33 hectoliters per hectare, vs. an estate-wide average of 28 in 2015): Bright ruby-red. Subtle scents of boysenberry, blackberry, bitter chocolate and anise. Concentrated, tactile Beaune premier cru with layered dark berry flavors and lovely integrated sweetness. This very fine-grained, harmonious wine finishes with sweet dark fruits and suave tannins. This wine showed good power but a slight rusticity from barrel a year ago; it's more classy in its finished form. |

Wine Advocate (89-91)The 2015 Echézeaux Grand Cru was buttoned down when I tasted it, the 100% new oak keeping a lid on the red berry fruit behind this wall. The palate is grippy on the entry with chunky red berry fruit (cranberry, wild strawberry and pomegranate) mixed with white pepper and sage notes towards the stocky finish. Like other 2015s from the domaine, I would like more terroir expression, more personality to be expressed. |

Wine Advocate (90-92)The 2015 Vosne-Romanée Les Mazières will be the last release since the 45-year-old vines were pulled up following the harvest, since they were too degenerated. Matured in 50% new oak, it offers crisp red cherry and cranberry scents on the nose, neatly defined and focused with a hint of wet limestone in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit on the entry, a pleasing saline note running from start to finish with a gentle grip. This is a very commendable valedictory wine |

Vinous (98+)Bright medium red. Very pure but very reticent nose hints at blueberry, raspberry, licorice, game and woodsmoke. Delivers a compelling combination of fine-grained texture, deep sweetness and restrained power; still youthfully compressed but already boasts thrilling mouthfilling perfume of tart red fruits, spices and saline minerality. This spectacular Chambertin broadens out on the back half without giving any impression of weight. A wine of uncommon depth and class, with no sign of overripeness. With its salty, crushed-rock minerality, this wine saturates every square millimeter of the palate and stimulates the salivary glands on the sensationally long finish. |

Wine Advocate (97)The 2015 Chambertin-Clos de Bèze Grand Cru is spectacular, wafting from the glass with a dramatic bouquet of sweet grilled meat, red and black fruit, candied peel and rich soil. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, ample and powerful, with a lavishly gourmand attack that evokes the 2009 rendition, but this quickly segues into the mid-palate of an altogether more tautly structural, serious wine, its considerable dimension and concentration underwritten by racy acids. The finish is long and firm. This is a monumental Clos de Bèze built for the long haul. |

Vinous (97)The 2015 Gevrey-Chambertin Clos St.-Jacques 1er Cru has more fruit intensity than Jean-Marie Fourrier's (implying just a slightly later picking, perhaps), offering copious black plum, raspberry, sous-bois and subtle tobacco scents that are beautifully defined. The palate totally delivers: harmonious, succinct, beautifully structured, with perfect acidity that imparts a disarming sense of symmetry, and brilliantly articulated terroir expression on the sustained finish. Bon vin, très bon vin. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting. |

Vinous (89-91)Bright medium red, a bit darker than the Gevrey-Chambertin Clos du Château. Darker, spicier and more complex on the nose, conveying a suggestion of Brochon power. A step up in energy and clarity as well, offering lovely density and cut to its raspberry and spice flavors. Finishes classically dry, firmly structured and long. As impressive an early showing as I can recall for this village wine chez Rousseau. |

Vinous (91)The 2015 Volnay Les Santenots-du-Milieu 1er Cru has a clenched fist of a nose; the aromas are there, but it is almost as if this Volnay wants to keep the aromatics for itself instead of bestowing them upon the imbiber. Perhaps the best adjective is “selfish.” The palate is very well balanced with fine tannin and well-judged acidity that lends tension and energy, but remains very linear and strict in style. This is a Volnay that clearly refuses to come out and play at such a young age, and yet I suspect that it will mature into a very fine specimen with bottle age. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and sappy, with an ample chassis of fine-grained tannin, bright acids, good depth and length, and a solid core. Best from 2023 through 2045. 275 cases made, 102 cases imported. |

Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting. |

Burghound (88)A cool, pretty and pure nose reflects notes of various red berries, floral and a hint of earth. There is terrific energy and fine detail to the utterly delicious flavors that possess outstanding depth and length for a regional wine. Recommended. |

Wine Advocate (93)The 2015 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru from Domaine Arnoux-Lachaux reveals a rich bouquet of plum, incense, creamy spice and smoked duck. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, ample and layered, with a fine-grained but firm chassis of tannin which will demand some bottle age, and good depth at the core. Charles Lachaux observes that the Clos de Vougeot, which is not blessed with the domaine's best vine genetics, is one of the parcels which has demonstrated the greatest improvement with biodynamic farming. |

Wine Advocate (94+)The 2015 Echezeaux Grand Cru is very pretty, opening in the glass with notes of sweet cherry, raspberry, cinnamon, rose and spice. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and sappy, with an ample chassis of fine-grained tannin, bright acids, good depth and length, and a solid core. Like most of Charles Lachaux's 2015s, this is shutting down, but it should be exceptional in the fullness of time. This is produced from a parcel in Rouges du Bas: one of the steeper, higher-altitude parts of Echézeaux, where the soil is thinner and the wines tend to be more tensile. |

Wine Advocate (94+)The 2015 Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru is one of the more aromatically reticent wines in the range, opening in the glass with notes of coniferous forest floor, raspberry and currant leaf. On the palate, the wine is supple, silky and expansive, with a deep and sapid core of fruit, bright acids, and fine-grained, chalky tannins which assert themselves on the finish. This will need time, but the raw materials are promising. |
