The 2013 Clos l'Eglise has developed a very attractive bouquet with blackberry, briary and incense aromas that are well defined, very pretty. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp acidity, grainy on the entry with freshness and vigor. I appreciate the density here - not a common feature in 2013 - with a touch of salinity towards the finish. It will give a decade's worth of drinking pleasure.

(80% merlot and 20% cabernet franc): Dark ruby. Blueberry, menthol and violet on the perfumed nose. On the palate, floral dark berry flavors are complicated by vanilla and ink. Youthfully chewy tannins rise on the long finish, which features a repeating violet note.
