  • Anne Gros Richebourg Grand Cru 2022 (6x75cl)

    Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (96-99)

5 Star Wine. A brilliant purple, with a fascinating touch of spice to add to the depth of dark yet royal fruit. Just keeps getting more profound on the nose. Incredibly intense through the middle, excellent mineral acidity behind, and a length well above the others. Thank you for this perfection.

  • Ballot Millot Meursault 1er Cru Boucheres 2020 (6x75cl)

    Burghound (92-94)

Sweet spot Outstanding. Elegant if restrained aromas are cool and pure with notes of apple, acacia blossom, lemon-lime and a whiff of mineral reduction. The racy and wonderfully refined middle weight flavors are lacy, indeed almost delicate, with plenty of lovely underlying tension on the lingering and impeccably well-balanced finale. This is pretty much classic Bouchères that should age well over the medium-term. In a word, lovely.

  • Benjamin Leroux Vougeot Clos du Village 2019 (6x75cl)

    Vinous (86-88)

The 2019 Vougeot Clos de Village has a light, slightly green bouquet, although there are no stems here. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly coarse tannins on the entry, but it coheres toward the finish. A lightweight Vougeot considering the vintage. Just three barrels produced.

  • Geantet Pansiot Gevrey-Chambertin En Champs 2019 (6x75cl)

Relish in a bottle of Geantet Pansiot Gevrey-Chambertin En Champs 2019, a sophisticated French red wine emanating from the celebrated Geantet Pansiot estate. Painstakingly nurtured in Burgundy's famous Gevrey-Chambertin region, it's notable for its profound depth of flavour and distinguished elegance.

  • Jean et Sebastien Dauvissat Chablis Les Preuses Grand Cru 2015 (6x75cl)

    Vinous (94)

The 2015 Chablis Les Preuses Grand Cru is bright, precise and crystalline - in other words, a classic expression of this great grand cru. White flowers, crushed rocks, mint and slate all run through this super-expressive, nuanced Chablis from Dauvissat. Even in this warm, radiant vintage, the personality of Preuses comes through loud and clear - and that is perhaps the greatest compliment I can pay to this wine.

  • Jean Fournier Marsannay Trois Terres VV 2021 (6x75cl)

    Burghound (90-93)

An agreeably fresh nose freely offers up its array of spicy and perfumed red berries, soft earth and a floral whiff. There is fine mid-palate density to the seductively textured, even succulent, medium weight flavors that exude a subtle minerality on the lightly austere, firm and balanced finale. This is lovely and worth considering

  • Lucien Le Moine Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru 2020 (6x75cl)

    Burghound (93-96)

Ripe aromas include those of plum, dark cherry, warm earth and a whisper of the sauvage. The supple, delicious and dense big-bodied flavors flash enormous power and drive that really builds from the mid-palate to the explosively long and sappy finish where the only nit is a hint of warmth. Note that this is very firmly structured and in need of at least a decade of keeping and should reward almost two.

This too is firmly reduced. There is almost painful intensity to the beautifully delineated and mineral-driven broad-shouldered flavors that possess a highly refined textured before culminating in an almost crisp, moderately austere and wonderfully persistent finale that is quite firmly structured. This is a bit atypical but no less attractive for it and a Bèze that should amply reward a decade plus of cellaring. Lovely.

  • Michel Lafarge Volnay 2020 (6x75cl)

    Vinous (89-91)

The 2020 Volnay Village is completely aged in used barrel. It has a transparent nose with lifted red cherry and crushed strawberry fruit with an underlying tertiary scent. The palate is more expressive than the aromatics with juicy ripe tart red cherries, quite citric in style with orange rind and a touch of bitter lemon enlivening the finish. This should drink well for up to 15 years, possibly more.

The 2021 Chablis Fôret 1er Cru is where things start getting serious for Raveneau with a chiselled, orange blossom and flinty bouquet that unfurls nicely in the glass. The palate is well balanced with a fine thread of acidity, subtle apricot and quince notes surfacing with time, quite elegant, almost dainty in style with a persistent finish. Very fine.

  • Raveneau Chablis 1er Cru Montee de Tonnerre 2020 (6x75cl)

    Burghound (95)

(Outstanding) A more elegant and ultra-cool nose reveals its combination of floral, citrus zest, iodine and that briny sea water character the best examples of Chablis all seem to possess, all of which is trimmed in moderate but not invasive wood. There isn't quite the same volume on the palate as the Butteaux, but the middleweight flavors are notably more refined before terminating in a driving, chiseled and citrusy bone-dry finale. I very much like the focused power of the finish and this classy effort should also amply reward extended cellaring.

  • Raveneau Chablis 1er Cru Montee de Tonnerre 2021 (6x75cl)

There is an interesting minty hint to the wonderfully elegant and overtly floral-suffused aromas of citrus confit, shellfish and green apple. The almost painfully intense middleweight flavors possess strikingly good transparency on the borderline aggressively stony, focused and impressively long finish. I very much like the inherent sophistication as well as the overall sense of balance. In a word, stunning.

  • Raveneau Chablis Grand Cru Blanchots 2021 (6x75cl)

The 2021 Chablis Blanchots Grand Cru has the most "classic" or what you might call "old school" bouquets amongst Raveneau's 2021s and I love it: razor-sharp, struck flint and granite scents. The palate is very taut on the entry, linear, a vertical Chablis that feels very long with a saline finish that lingers in the mouth. What a superb Blanchots - one for Chablis purists.

Very sweet, silky and ripe, with outstanding sappy verve giving this dense, tactile yet suave wine a noble quality.
