Salon Back Vintages (especially Bottles) Look Interesting ahead of 2008 Vintage Release - 2008 release in magnum only could drive buying of back vintages in bottle format.

Why Buy This?

* The Champagne world is eagerly awaiting the release of the 2008 Salon. Didier Depond, Salon’s Managing Director, has called the 2008 one of the finest Salons ever. The 2008 release is now imminent.

* The 2008 release of Salon has significant implications. For the first time, Salon 2008 will be bottled in magnum (150cl) format only. There will be no 75cl bottles.

* Salon has said that the magnum-only bottling is due to the small production in 2008 and also ‘quality considerations’. The latter point is crucial, because if Salon thinks it’s Champagne is simply better in magnum format, it is possible that we never see a great vintage of Salon in 75cl bottle form again.

* As this possibility dawns on the market, we could see a scramble to secure the existing 75cl bottles which might turn out to have even great rarity value in the future.

* Last but not least, Salon Champagne is known to need at least 15 to 20 years of aging before reaching it’s drinking window, larger formats needing even longer than 75cl bottles. Thus we would anticipate a drinking window for 2008 Salon starting in 2030, giving more appeal to the current back vintages available on the market.

* Because allocations of Salon 2008 are also going to be minuscule, we expect a lot of interest in Salon back vintages over the next couple of weeks. So to get you ahead of the curve we have put together a vertical of Salon from 1976 to 2007. Some with specific case images,
