Domaine des Héritiers Louis Jadot Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Ursules 2019 (6x75cl)
Beaune vineyards are the most extensive of the Côte de Beaune, between Savigny to the north and Pommard to the south. There are no Grand Cru vineyards in this commune but 36 Premiers Crus. The vineyards of Beaune are mainly on the slopes, which is why so many make Premier Cru status.
The Clos des Ursules is a 2.15 hectare enclave purchased by Louis Henri Denis Jadot in 1826 and has remained a solely owned property of the Jadot family ever since. It is the jewel of the Domaine des Héritiers Louis Jadot portfolio, producing a wine of consistent excellence which, for the characteristic delicacy and suppleness of Vignes Franches, shows striking tannin and dimension.
Full, firm and rich in ripe-berry flavours, its fine, slightly earthy bouquet and long, lush finish converge in a wine perfectly balancing elegance and power.
The 2019 Beaune Clos des Ursules 1er Cru has a fragrant bouquet featuring a mélange of red and black fruit intermingled with orange blossom and iodine aromas. Good intensity. The palate is medium-bodied with a stocky opening, fine structure and symmetry and a fine bead of acidity. There’s a dark fruit flourish toward the finish, which leaves behind a subtle marine-themed aftertaste. Excellent.

Cask sample. Bright garnet. Racy, rather sophisticated minerally note on the nose. Very fine-boned, juicy start on the palate with still a very light hint of oak but this should all settle down. More transparent and ethereal than the other Jadot 2019 Beaunes with no shortage of fine tannins on the end. Very creditable.
