One of the oldest estates in the Medoc their wine structures very well to age, a characteristic of the best Bordeaux wines. This is rich and dense for 2008, evident in the lack of oak in the aroma or on the palate. The floral bouquet has lots of blackberry and some spice.

Producer

Ducru Beaucaillou

Chateua Ducru Beaucaillou began in the 13th century; it translates to "beautiful stones" because of their exceptional terroir. The fruit is sorted several times, their grand vin only uses the best. Halving quantity since 1982, quality has risen sharply. The wine has charm and austerity; it is the archetypal St Julien.
