Il Poggione has become a firm favourite with Cru clients. It is a guiding star for classic Brunello di Montalcino and has scores to match, but not once have they released a vintage at too high a price, no matter the press or quality.

Starting in 2010, Brunello has had a remarkable stretch of great vintages; with even the less powerful 2014s proving remarkably engaging. But 2015 is arguably the best of the lot and Il Poggione has absolutely nailed it this year ... but what else would you expect?

As ever a stand out in the vintage, it has "a darker and more concentrated appearance than many of its peers" (Wine Advocate) and the flavour profile sports a strikingly "concentrated core of florals and fruit" (James Suckling).

With 97 points (WA) to its credit, it is the joint highest scoring vintage ever, even coming within a single point of the estate's highest ever rated Vigna Paganelli!

And yet for all those remarkable achievements, it remains the region's greatest value with no challengers on the horizon.

Il Poggione

Tenuta Il Poggione is one of three original producers of Brunello di Montalcino. Their secret to producing great sangioviese is meticulous care for the vines, often thinning bunches and continually monitoring their health. Their practice of diversified agriculture means their wine is never short of character.
