Vinous (95+)The 2010 Chianti Classico Riserva Rancia is cool, inward and reserved at this stage. Much less expressive than it was from barrel, today the 2010 appears to be in a closed phase. There is so much tension in the glass, though, and I can hardly wait to see where the 2010 goes over the coming years. A burst of mineral and floral infused fruit lingers on the polished, nuanced finish. Today, the 2010 seems to bring together the finesse of 2004 with the structure and power of the 2010. A pretty magical combination, if you ask me. |

Vinous (93)The 2010 Chianti Classico boasts striking inner perfume, but is otherswise very shut down. Today, the 2010 seems to combine the finesse of the 2004 with some of the structure of the 2006. Clean veins of 2010 acidity support the brilliant, sensual finish. The 2010 is a gorgeous wine with a bright future, although readers will need to be patient. |

A symphony in a bottle, the Podere Le Boncie Le Trame 2010 is an exquisite expression of the ancient Sangiovese grape. Roberto Bianchi of Le Boncie crafts this elegant and pure Chianti Classico in the serene hills of San Felice, just south of Castelnuovo Berardenga. Blessed with terraced slopes and captivating biodiversity, these vineyards are tended organically, echoing the ethos of the estate. The cellar practices too are low intervention, with native yeast fermentations and minimal sulphur use, preserving the genuine flavour profile. Bianchi's 2010 Podere Le Boncie Le Trame, a harmonious blend of Sangiovese spiked with Canaiolo and Colorino, displays a brooding, dark fruit layer, balance by a fresco of earthy notes and firm tannins. Maturing in seasoned French oak barrels lends a smoky underpin, enlivening the ripe fruit core. This wine showcases the authentic Chianti Classico character - an embodiment of Tuscan terroir and winemaking tradition. |
