Margaux had to manage the exceedingly high concentration by limiting the pump overs, and wow did they manage that, making a truly exquisite First Growth. 36% of the crop went into the Grand Vin, of which 90% was Cabernet Sauvignon. This has beautiful concentration and focus, with tight grained structure and fine acidity. There is a flamboyant creaminess and silkiness, supported by an elegant tannic structure. The overall effect is impressive balance. An utterly profound wine.

Producer

Margaux

Chateau Margaux is known for exceptional Bordeaux with staggering consistency. Director Paul Pontallier has been at the estate for over 30 years, overseeing numerous legendary vintages. Fittingly the Chateau is one of the grandest and most imposing, nicknamed ‘the Versailles of the Medoc.’ They have always had a rich history but their current dominance began when it was purchased by the Mentzelopoulos family in 1977, bringing huge investment.
