D'Aiguilhe
-
Vinous - Antonio Galloni (88-90)
The 2018 d'Aiguilhe Blanc is 100% Sauvignon Blanc done in steel. Lemon confit and floral notes and a touch of reduction, add character as well as a good bit of energy, within the context of the year. I would prefer to drink it sooner rather than later.Inc. VAT£284.69 -
Vinous - Neal Martin (91)
The 2020 Château d'Aiguilhe Blanc has an understated bouquet that has closed up since I tasted it from barrel. Light aromas of honeysuckle and jasmine surface with aeration but refuse to click into fifth gear. The palate is well balanced with a lively, Sancerre-like entry with Anjou pear and gooseberry. Sharp acidity, but not shrill, this has fine tension with a very clever and subtle reduction on the finish. Very fine.Inc. VAT£257.09 -
Vinous - Antonio Galloni (91)
Just bottled, the 2021 'Aiguilhe Blanc is rich, deep and super-expressive. Orchard fruit, dried flowers, sage and mint give the 2021 its strong savory character, while the fruit is in the background. Plush, minimal new oak yields a somewhat stark, yet compelling, dry white.Inc. VAT£221.09 -
Wine Spectator (91)
Very ripe and floral, with mineral and fresh herb. Medium- to full-bodied, with ripe tannins and a long, flavorful finish. Impressive as always for the price and the vintage. Score range: 88-91 -JSInc. VAT£348.04 -
James Suckling (93)
Intense aromas of sliced mushrooms, blackberries and spices follow through to a full body, with sweet, ripe fruit, velvety tannins and a fresh clean finish. Tangy and fresh. Best ever from here and one of the values of the vintage. Best in 2016.Inc. VAT£531.67 -
James Suckling (93)
This is so good already. What an amazing precision of fruit for this wine, with a blackberry and blueberry character as well as minerals. Full and super silky with lovely fruit. Gourmand. Tasty. I want to drink it. Always great value!Inc. VAT£602.98 -

Possessing medium body, fine, silky tannin, impeccable balance and obvious minerality on the finish, it’s seriously good Côtes de Castillon that over-delivers.Inc. VAT£409.78 -

The 2019 d'Aiguilhe has a really lovely bouquet of ample black cherry, mulberry and light floral scents, very pure and delineated. The palate is medium-bodied with cedar-infused red fruit. While not as exuberant as the aromatics, this is nicely detailed and quite poised on the finish. No, I still cannot pronounce its name, but this Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux is well worth seeking out.Inc. VAT£378.07 -

The 2020 d'Aiguilhe captures all of the exuberance of the vintage. Jammy and explosive, the 2020 offers up a heady mélange of raspberry preserves, mocha, spice and rose petal. This lush, extravagantly rich wine is a real beauty, but the style is definitely pushed in the direction of ripeness and textural intensity. Give the tannins a few years to soften.Inc. VAT£186.64 -

A pretty texture to this wine with sliced lemon, green apple and fresh celery. Grapefruit and nougat, too. Medium body. Sancerre-like. Sauvignon blanc. Drink now.Inc. VAT£194.69
