Vinous (92-94)The 2020 Clos de Vougeot le Grand Maupertui Grand Cru has an intense, quite penetrating bouquet with copious black cherry and cassis scents interwoven with rose petal and violet aromas. The palate is quite dense and multi-layered with dark berry fruit laced with white pepper and bay leaf that builds towards quite a backward finish that will requite 8-10 years to reach its drinking window. A lot of wine in this Clos Vougeot. |

Tim Atkin MW (95)Grown in a single parcel that is 32 years old, this is a winsome Ech zeaux. It's an outpouring of pristine pure red fruits laced with minerality and sprinkled with sweet spices. Outgoing and welcoming, it reminded me of Anne's huge smile. (So often one can see the winemaker in her wine!) The gossamer structure definitely feels rather Vosne-like, even though this second smallest climat sits just about in the heart of Ech zeaux. 2023-36 |

Vinous - Stephen Tanzer (91-94)Good medium red. More serious, tangy aromas of raspberry, minerals and smoke. Wonderful sweetness on the palate; really stuffed with fruit and yet less forthcoming today-perhaps more dominated by its structure- than the Clos Vougeot. Finishes long and firm, with a suggestion of medicinal cherry. |

Tim Atkin MW (96)Blackberries and black currants mesh with violets and sweet herbs on the nose. The palate turns a bit darker with fresh mushrooms and damp earth. There's even an exotic whiff of incense. There is terrific sap and energy here with lean, svelte tannins and racy acidity aplenty for longevity. This comes from 60- to 70-year-old vines in Les V roilles, positioned between DRC and Leroy. 2024-38 |
