Cantina Tramin
About Cantina Tramin
As one of Italy’s most ancient co-operatives, Cantina Tramin, perched in the mountainous Alto Adige region, has long enjoyed an unrivalled reputation as the “important world leader when it comes to the Gewürztraminer grape” (WA).
Think Produttori del Barbaresco in north-east Italy; this co-operative under the leadership of Willi Stürz represents 190 small family growers and is producing some of the most striking Gewürztraminers in the region.

James Suckling (94)Wonderful nose of yellow roses, fresh pineapple and jasmine, with delicately spicy overtones. Stunning ripeness and concentration, but even more importantly, almost impeccable balance for a grape variety that’s a winemaker’s nightmare. Very long, silky finish, where the 15% alcohol is barely perceptible. Drink or hold. |
