De Montille
Domaine de Montille in the Cote de Beaune was developed by Hubert de Montille in 1951. His family have aristocratic roots in the region’s land since the 17th century. Now run by his son, Etienne, they use traditional wine making techniques to produce pure elegant Burgundy that generally requires five years bottle ageing.

Vinous (92+)Bright yellow. Musky pineapple and lemon aromas offer a bit less lift today than the Cailleret but plenty of allure. Less sweet and pristine in the middle palate than the Cailleret, but a bit thicker in texture, with the stony underpinning and spine of lemony acidity to give it a seriously penetrating quality. A sexy element of reduction adds to this young wine's considerable appeal. Conveys a strong, tactile impression of dry extract without any rough edges and finishes salty and long. A year ago, the Cailleret seemed creamier and more harmonious than this wine but this has put on weight without any loss of tension. |

Vinous (91-93)(25% new oak): Bright yellow. A touch of reduction but still a captivating fruitiness to the aromas and flavors of lemon, lime and crushed stone. Rich, savory, concentrated wine with a restrained sweetness and enlivening underlying minerality. More tactile, pliant and deep than the Poruzots. This silky, edge-free wine finishes classically dry and long, with lovely lemony lift and grip. |

Vinous (92-94)The 2018 Meursault Les Perrières 1er Cru It has an intense bouquet – like other Meursaults from de Montille, carrying a little reduction, but with more crushed stone, mineralité and white flower scents than the Les Porusots. The palate is well balanced with impressive depth, tension and vigor, offering citrus lemon and orange pith mixed with hazelnut toward the sustained finish. Excellent. |

Vinous (90-92)The 2019 Meursault Les Perrières 1er Cru showed quite a heavy reduction on the nose that made it difficult to read. (Winemaker Brian Sieve explained that this has as much to do with the cellar in Meursault vis-à-vis Puligny as with winemaking decisions.) The palate is well balanced with a rounded entry, smooth and harmonious, offering tropical tones of apricot and nectarine. As with the Porusots, I would have liked more mineralité and tension on the finish, though there is satisfying length. |

Vinous (91-93)The 2021 Meursault Les Perrières 1er Cru has a superb bouquet with wonderful mineralité that clearly defines the climat. The palate is very well balanced, linear and tensile, elegant and poised towards the finish with a touch of lemon sherbet on the aftertaste. Very classy. |

Vinous (90-92)The 2018 Meursault Les Porusots 1er Cru, matured in 25% new oak, shows a little reduction on the nose, but there is decent fruit concentration underneath. The palate is well balanced with fine acidity, although the reduction dominates the finish at the moment. It could evolve into a fine Les Porusots, but it will need time to lose that reduction (and possibly a good decant). |

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (91-93)From the upper part. Pale lime and lemon. After a lean and discreet bouquet, the wine starts to fill out on the palate, racier behind yet still with a good broad basis of white fruit. Some length Tasted: October 2020 |

Vinous (90-92)The 2021 Meursault Les Porusots 1er Cru has a fragrant, peony and persimmon-scented bouquet with crushed stone and citrus peel. The palate is medium-bodied, saline in the mouth and very harmonious with crisp acidity and a pleasant bitterness on the finish. Lovely. |
