    Giodo

    About Giodo

Carlo Ferrini’s name is one of the most famous in all of Montalcino so when after years consulting as winemaker for many of Italy’s greatest estates including Casanova di Neri, Talenti, Poggio Antico, Romitorio, Petrolo, Fonterutoli and San Leonardo, he set up his own estate, it was certainly something to take notice of.

Established in 2002 with its first vintage in just 2009, Giodo is Ferrini’s passion project estate of his own that is one of Brunello’s most exciting producers today. Giodo’s small 2.5 hectares of vineyards are planted at 300 meters altitude and produces a total of only 12,000 bottles per year, tiny in the context of Brunello di Montalcino.

It did not take long for Wine Enthusiast’s 2008 Winemaker of the Year to make his mark with his stunning Giodo Brunello di Montalcino 2010 being awarded a perfect 100 points from James Suckling and an impressive 98 points by Monica Larner (Wine Advocate) – just proving that this Tuscan native really knows his Sangiovese. Since recent vintages of 2015 & 2016 have both garnered further 100 points scores from James Suckling as Ferrini has elevated Giodo to one of the most in-demand Brunello producers in Tuscany.
