The 2009 Meursault Boucheres emerges form the glass with lime, bright citrus, white flowers and crushed rocks. It shows gorgeous inner tension, expressive perfume and a long, impeccably silky finish. Bright floral notes add lift on the finish. This could probably use another few years in bottle. This is a very steep slope that passes very quickly from being ripe to over-ripe, so the harvest date is critical.

Exotic orange liqueur on the very ripe nose. Fat and sweet in the mouth, with a distinctly opulent texture for young Perrieres. A sweet flavor of candied orange is leavened by wet stone, with a mineral component providing lift and standing in for lowish acidity. I find this less sharply delineated than the Charmes and more influenced by the vintage.

Bright pale yellow. Soft citrus fruits and crushed rock on the musky, slightly reduced nose. Rich, perfumed and tightly coiled, with a terrific core of acidity intensifying the orange, floral and mineral flavors. Offers compelling cut and concentration but this infant will require several years of aging. Wonderfully refined Perrieres of grand cru class.

The 2009 Meursault Perrieres is a mode of coolness. It possesses tons of energy in Reserve. With time in the glass hints of slate, crushed rocks, lime and white flowers start to take shape, suggesting the direction this profound wine is headed in over the coming years. The Perrieres is simply breathtaking for its clarity and precision. Like a finely cut diamond, there is always something new to discover. The finish is beyond eternal. This is not an immediate wine, but rather a bottle that will handsomely repay patience. I hope to have a chance to revisit this in a few years’ time, as it is nothing short of utterly profound. Anticipated maturity: 2015+.

The 2015 Meursault 1er Cru Perrières is firmly shut down, offering up only a reticent bouquet of iodine, toasted nuts and citrus oil. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, tangy and bright but decidedly taut, playing its cards very close to its vest. From barrel, this was the most intense and concentrated wine in Roulot's cellar, with immense potential, but given how closed the wine is today, there is really no point pulling corks for a good five years.

Gently sun-kissed scents of Asian pear, white flowers and honeycomb introduce the 2017 Meursault Village, a medium to full-bodied, satiny-textured and elegantly fleshy wine derived from the Clos de la Baronne, Crotot, Gruyaches and Sous la Velle; as that palette of lieux-dits implies, it's the most open-knit, gourmand and forward Meursault in the domaine's range.

As usual, 2019 Meursault Villages comes from several parcels including Clos de la Baronne, Sous la Velle and Crotot. It has a well-defined bouquet, a little spicier than previous vintages. Timid at first, but finds its voice with aeration. Hints of lemongrass and chai complement the citrus fruit. The palate is well balanced with good concentration and slightly waxy in texture. Fine depth with that spicy leitmotif return on the finish. Give this 18-24 months in bottle.

The 2020 Meursault Villages is bright, linear and sculpted. Jean-Marc Roulot did a terrific job in preserving freshness and verve in his village-level Meursault. Lemon peel, white flowers, mint and crushed rocks are all laced together in this steely, nervy Meursault. The Villages is a blend of several parcels on the lower slopes of town; namely Clos de la Baronne, Gruyaches and Sous la Velle, plus a touch of young-vine fruit from Porusots Dessus. The 2019 Meursault À Mon Plaisir Clos du Haut Tesson has a fragrant bouquet with pressed white flowers, touches of jasmine and yellow plum. This shows slightly more reductive traits compared to the Les Luchets and Meix Chavaux. The palate is vibrant on the entry, taut and fresh. Fine acidity with an edgy nectarine and lemon zest driven finish. There is a surfeit of energy here, its tenderness belying its power.

Very ripe, musky stone fruit aromas come across as a bit less lively than those of the Meix Chavaux and perhaps more typical of this very warm vintage. Distinctly more yellow-fruity and spicy in the mouth, showing less extract richness but a supple texture and a touch of warmth. This wine appears to be evolving faster than the Meix Chavaux and should drink earlier.

The 2019 Meursault Les Vireuils has a pretty bouquet with orchard fruit, hints of apricot and just a touch of almond coming through with aeration. The palate is well balanced with an edgy opening, quite sharp at first, orange zest and a touch of tangerine. A citric finish just needs a little more length. This will develop with bottle age but I would afford it 3 to 4 years in the cellar.

The 2020 Meursault À Mon Plaisir Clos du Haut Tesson offers a beguiling combination of fruit intensity, minerality and structure. Orchard fruit, ginger, spice, menthol, chamomile, crushed rocks and tropical accents give the Tesson an exotic flair to play off its dynamic personality. Readers will find a Meursault of uncommon texture and pedigree. Incidentally, a recent magnum of the 1992 was positively stellar. (Tasted by Antonio Galloni)

A touch more muscular and textural than the Vireuils that preceded it, the 2017 Meursault Les Luchets reveals a lovely bouquet of Anjou pear, confit lemon, citrus zest, dried white flowers and nutmeg. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, satiny and layered, with succulent acids and chalky structuring dry extract. This is a terrific Luchets that is well worth seeking out.

The 2020 Meursault Luchets shows the more extroverted style of the year nicely. Creamy and beautifully layered, the Luchets is redolent of pear, apricot, dried flowers, chamomile and mint that envelop the palate effortlessly. The Luchets is so inviting, even in the very early going. A burst of mineral and stony notes lend freshness on the close. The 2020 is impressive and so promising. (Tasted by Antonio Galloni)

Picked on 27th August, 13.0% alcohol, 4.30TA and 3.24pH. More lemon than lime in the colour. There is more weight of fruit here, more of a golden glow through the middle, with a citrus streak to finish. Graceful as much as generous. Pleasing finish on sweet lemon fruit.

    Vinous (90)

The 2019 Meursault Les Vireuils has a pretty bouquet with orchard fruit, hints of apricot and just a touch of almond coming through with aeration. The palate is well balanced with an edgy opening, quite sharp at first, orange zest and a touch of tangerine. A citric finish just needs a little more length. This will develop with bottle age but I would afford it 3 to 4 years in the cellar.
