Domaine Hubert Lamy
About Domaine Hubert Lamy
Lamy is a historic name in Burgundy, with a vine growing history in St-Aubin stretching as far back as 1640. However, it is Olivier Lamy, the current owner and winemaker of the family estate, who put this artisanal estate on the international fine wine stage.
A diligent vigneron representing the new generation of exciting winemakers, Olivier is keen to make progress in both his vineyard and cellar. Having sharpened his craft at Méo-Camuzet before taking over the family estate in 1996, he established a very sharp acumen for identifying the best and oldest sites. Adding his natural winemaking instinct to more technical knowledge such as how to train vines flexibly, his exquisitely fine and terroir-expressive wines are celebrated by Burgundian connoisseurs the world over.

Vinous (93)The 2017 Saint-Aubin Derrière Chez Edouard 1er Cru has a "cool" nose with cold granite mixed with undergrowth, moss-like scents with a touch of menthol. It is very intense on the palate, one of Lamy's spicier 2017s with a tang of ginger and lemon thyme on the finish. Excellent. |

Vinous (93)The 2020 Saint-Aubin Clos de la Chatenière 1er Cru comes from steep limestone slopes and shows quite a bit of Coche reduction at the moment. But one can tell there is real tension and concentration here. The palate is tensile on the entry, freshly-sliced lime and tangy orange pith, fanning out with a sense of brio towards the finish. This is another classy offering from Olivier Lamy this vintage. |

Vinous (92)The 2020 Saint-Aubin Clos de Meix 1er Cru has a livewire bouquet with wonderful definition and energy - linear, the chalky terroir coming through with aeration. The palate is fresh and vibrant on the entry, a judicious touch of sour lemon commingling with bruised apple and pear, lemongrass enlivening the persistent finish. Excellent. |

Wine Advocate (94-96)Another tour de force from Lamy is the 2018 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Derrière Chez Edouard Haut Densité, a magical wine that unwinds in the glass with notes of crisp Anjou pear, white flowers, citrus oil, warm bread and smoke. Medium to full-bodied, layered and complete, this searingly intense and assertively mineral Saint-Aubin brought tears to my eyes. Sadly, obtaining even a bottle will require considerable guile and a large disposable income, but what pleasures await the lucky few who will taste this profound white Burgundy. |

Vinous (94)The 2018 Saint-Aubin En Remilly 1er Cru is adorned with an initially oily, almost petrolly nose that recedes to leave aromas of freshly cut lemon plus a subtle algae note. Well balanced with fine acidity, this En Remilly is very cohesive towards the finish with lingering lemon curd and orange rind. Very good length, this is a brilliant wine. |

Wine Advocate (89-91)The 2018 Saint-Aubin La Princée is showing well, opening in the glass with aromas of citrus zest, white flowers and crisp Anjou pear. Medium to full-bodied, elegantly textural and precise, it's saline and incisive, Lamy observing that some two-thirds of this parcel is decidedly cool and windy. |
