Marquis d'Alesme
Château Marquis d’Alesme is a third growth Margaux making enormous strides forward since its acquisition by the Perrodo family in 2006. It has become clear that Nathalie Perrodo, along with her talented winemaking team led by Marjolaine de Coninck, are fully realising the estate’s potential through the significant investment and improvements envisioned by her late father.
A very close neighbour of Château Margaux, Marquis d’Alesme occupies 15 hectares of breath-taking vineyards found on the Lieu-dit of Les Terrasses de Margaux. Characterised by gravel-rich soils mixed with sand, clay and limestone, the sun-exposed slopes are cooled by the nearby Gironde river, providing the perfect growing conditions for vines.

Jeb Dunnuck (93-95)Brought into the US exclusively by Jeffrey Davies, the 2017 Château Marquis d'Alesme Becker might just be the finest wine from this estate to date. Made from 61% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Merlot and the rest Petit Verdot, aged in 65% new French oak, its deep purple color is followed by a gorgeous perfume of crème de cassis, black cherries, crushed violets, and cedary spice. Possessing terrific purity of fruit, medium to full body, building tannin, and a great finish, this balanced, impeccably made 2017 will need 2-4 years of cellaring and keep for two decades or more. It’s a gem in the vintage and readers owe it to themselves to check out this estate, which has an undeniably gorgeous terroir. |

Vinous - Neal Martin (95)The 2019 Marquis d'Alesme Becker was very impressive from barrel. Now in bottle, it has retained those engaging aromas of blackberry, raspberry, cedar and a pinch of spice, well defined and quintessentially Margaux. The palate is understated on the entry, smooth and sensual in texture, with gorgeous, very pure red fruit. I adore the harmony of this wine, and the way it sashays toward the finish. Deceptively approachable, this will mature beautifully in bottle. |

Delivers depth and personality and an effortless Margaux finesse. Harvest September 23 to October 2. Marjolaine de Coninck technical director, owner Nathalie Perrodo. |
