Imbued with finesse and pedigree, the Michel Bouzereau Meursault 1er Cru Blagny 2018 is a magnificent product of the highly esteemed Bouzereau estate. Located in France's venerable Burgundy region, this wine represents the height of Chardonnay expression. Employing traditional vinification methods, the fermentation takes place in oak barrels which bestows precious complexities and textures to the wine. Under the direction of Jean-Baptiste, a seventh-generation winemaker, the Michel Bouzereau Meursault 1er Cru Blagny 2018 shows consistency with its predecessor vintages, admired for their bright fruit notes buoyed by a robust minerality. In the backdrop, the enchanting aromas of honeysuckle and fresh almonds create a harmonious olfactory experience. A quintessential Meursault, the Michel Bouzereau Meursault 1er Cru Blagny 2018 delivers an elegant balance of firm structure and delicate richness. Every sip offers a remarkable depth of flavour, making it a must-addition to any fine wine collection. |

Vinous (95)The 2017 Meursault Les Genevrières 1er Cru is a wine that I never tasted in barrel, though I wish I had! It has a well-defined, slightly creamy nose, hints of praline and salted caramel in the background, and mineralité in the driving seat. The terroir really comes through thanks to the supremely well judged acidity and beautifully managed new oak. A very harmonious and poised finish lingers temptingly in the mouth. Not a brash Meursault by any stretch, but self-aware of its class. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting in Savigny-lès-Beaune. |

Vinous (92-94)The 2018 Meursault Genevrières 1er Cru comes from a single 0.52-hectare parcel. It boasts a more complex bouquet than the Les Charmes-Dessus, offering an enticing mélange of crushed stone, pineapple, tangerine and yellow plum; menthol scents emerge with time. The palate is very well balanced with an oily-textured opening. There is fabulous intensity here, and very fine acidity. Citrus fruit and white peach appear toward the persistent finish. Superb. |

Vinous (92-94)The 2019 Meursault Les Charmes-Dessus 1er Cru has a slightly richer bouquet compared to Bouzereau’s other cuvées, presenting dried honey and orange pith scents plus honeysuckle and beeswax. The palate is very well balanced with a fine bead of acidity. Harmonious and full of energy. The vibrant citrus/lime finish fans out wonderfully and the spicy aftertaste is one of the longest I have found on this particular cuvée. Superb. |

Vinous (91-93)The 2018 Meursault Perrières 1er Cru comes from two parcels, 20% in Perrières-Dessus planted in 1955 and another part, 80% of the parcel, planted back in 1938. It has a very intense bouquet, like the Genevrières, featuring walnut, linseed oil and light white peach aromas. The palate is very well balanced with a fine bead of acidity. As Perrières should be, this is taut, linear and powerful, with hints of fresh grapefruit, tangerine and peach appearing toward the persistent finish. A superb Perrières, but does it possess the charm of the Genevrières? |

Vinous (92-94)The 2019 Meursault Perrières 1er Cru has a tight, focused nose of gunflint and gravel, expressing this noble vineyard extremely well in the sense that it could not be from anywhere else. The palate is well balanced with touches of orange peel, ginger and light savory notes on the entry. Quite a phenolically driven Perrières, it has wonderful length, even if it does not quite have the clinical precision of, say, Dominique Lafon’s own Perrières. Still, this is a well-crafted, quite sublime Meursault. |

Vinous (92-94)The 2018 Meursault Les Charmes-Dessus 1er Cru is one of the first parcels that Jean-Baptiste Bouzereau picks, since it is one of his most precocious holdings. Curiously, it sports a Puligny-like bouquet of wet limestone and green apple scents. The palate is taut and fresh, offering notes of orange peel, lemon peel and ginger toward the spicy, persistent finish. I suspect this will require four or five years in bottle to really show its class. |

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (90-93)Pretty light lemon colour. Some floral character, fine precision, a little lemon note too. More an elegant Puligny than a powerful one, though there is certainly adequate flesh right across the palate, with an attractive tingle of acidity to finish. |
