Vinous (91-94)The 2009 Pommard Pezerolles emerges from the glass with freshly cut roses, raspberries and sweet spices. This is an utterly refined Pommard. There is plenty of energy and vigor, but the fruit has more than enough pedigree and depth to stand up to the tannins. This is the estate's smallest cuvée; in 2009 there are only two barrels. |

Vinous (92+)Good deep red. Precise, highly aromatic nose of cherry and licorice. Pure, penetrating flavors demonstrate impressive clarity. Structured and firm but not at all dry. Finishes with firm but fine tannins and subtle length. This is lovely, cellarworthy Volnay. |

Vinous (94+)Deep red with ruby highlights. Distinctly purple aromas of blackberry, violet and menthol. Silky on entry, then considerably subtler and suaver than the Chateau des Ducs, with lovely finesse of texture and superb building fruit. Highly concentrated, young and impeccably balanced Volnay, finishing with sweet tannins and a whiplash of fruit. Much more accessible today than the Chateau des Ducs, but this too will reward extended cellaring. |
