    Pedesclaux

Two centuries after its birth, Pédesclaux, has been experiencing an unprecedented revival with a complete overhaul and expansion of the vineyard as well as construction of a brand new gravity-fed winery and cellars designed by Jean-Michel Wilmotte. This 1855 Grand Cru Classé is located in one of the most desired parts of Pauillac, but for years it lived below the potential of its highly coveted terroir. In 2009 the estate was purchased by Jacky Lorenzetti who made drastic improvements, bringing this estate up to the world class calibre of its illustrious neighbours. By purchasing 12 hectares alongside Lafite and Mouton, the estate immediately gained top-flight pedigree.

    Vinous - Antonio Galloni (89)

Super-ripe red cherry, kirsch, mint, wild flowers and cedar give the 2017 Fleur de Pédesclaux striking aromatic top notes and plenty of brilliance. Fleur de Pédesclaux is not the most complex Pauillac readers will come across, but it is absolutely delicious and very easy to like. I would drink it over the next handful of years.

The first wine made at the new cellar, the 2014 Château Pédesclaux checks in as 53% Cabernet Sauvignon and 47% Merlot aged in 65% new French oak. It's a beautiful wine in the vintage that has awesome purity and precision in its black raspberries, cassis, crushed flowers, and hints of river rock-like minerality. Medium-bodied, silky, pure, incredibly elegant and seamless, with gorgeous purity and elegance, it's a knockout wine in the vintage.

The 2017 Château Pédesclaux checks in 65% Cabernet, 25% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Petit Verdot. It shows a perfumed, complex bouquet of black raspberries, spring flowers, forest floor, and violets. Incredibly floral, pure, elegant and seamless, with less density than the 2016, it's a beautiful wine from this estate that’s been on an upward trajectory since 2010.
