Yann Chave
Rhone writer John Livingstone Learmouth calls Yann Chave “one of the best young men to appear in the northern Rhone in the past dozen years” and we were certainly impressed by the wines we tasted at his winery in Mercurol. Since taking over management of the estate from his family, he has worked hard in the vineyard to improve quality, replanting certain parcels and moving away from using chemicals. Yann harvests late, to obtain maximum ripeness, but the wines retain balance. In the winery, only natural yeasts are used, and all the grapes are de-stemmed.
