The San Filippo estate was founded in 1972. It is located to the east of Montalcino in the sub region known for producing the highest quality Brunellos. As you would expect, Sangiovese is the principal variety here, with small parcels of Merlot. New owner Roberto Giannelli has invested heavily to restore and renovate the entire winery. Production has been switched to organic. The Le Lucére vineyard is one of four vineyards on the estate. All four vineyards, in total, only add up to 5.5ha of DOCG Brunello, so this is extremely limited production wine. Only 15,000 bottles of the San Filippo Brunello di Montalcino Le Lucére DOCG 2015 were produced. The wine is aged for 22/24 in barrels and barriques and then another 10 months in bottle.
