The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannin. This is very cohesive, harmonious and silky-smooth in texture, with a light touch of blood orange and brown spices that impart complexity on the finish. Excellent. Wine Advocate (90-92)The 2015 Auxey-Duresses 1er Cru, which is a blend of 60% Breterins and 40% Les Bas des Duresses close to Monthélie, had received a bit of SO2 a week before my visit and was due to be transferred into tank for around two months. It contains 10% whole bunch fruit this year and sees 20% new oak. It has a sensual bouquet with black cherries, raspberry and confit fruit all with fine delineation. The tannins here are finer than the village cru as you would expect, the acidity nicely judged (3.4 pH) with a poised and tensile finish that delivers a welcome salinity on the finish. This comes highly recommended and is certainly one of the best 2015s that I have encountered from the appellation. |

As I've written before, this cuvée derives from a walled 0.4-hectare plot of 60-year-old cordon-pruned vines just behind the winery in Vertus, and only the first and second "serres" of the press are used. |

Wine Advocate (92-94)The 2015 Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru Clos de la Bussière, which contains 50% whole bunch fruit, has a clean and precise, almost pixelated bouquet with blackberry, briary and cold limestone scents that gain intensity in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp acidity, quite structured in the mouth with filigree and tensile tannin. This is very focused, linear in style, which is surprising given the warmth during the growing season, with great clarity on the finish. This is just a fantastic Morey-Saint-Denis from Christophe Roumier. |

Vinous (91-93)(vinified with 30% whole clusters and aged in 30% new oak; Landanger admitted to a little too much pigeage with this wine): Bright dark ruby, deeper in color than the amphora version. Totally different on the nose, where one is immediately aware of a bitter chocolate note from the oak. Then sweeter and more pliant in the mouth, with flavors of black cherry, violet and licorice. More complex and long on the aftertaste, offering an intriguing suggestion of wildness. The tannins here are serious, even a bit youthfully aggressive, and yet this sample makes the amphora version seem a bit frozen in its youth. |
