Clear, fresh and juicy on the palate, this is a medium-weight, charmingly round and juicy Pinot with spicy tannins and astringent acidity. Wine Advocate (89+)Predominantly sourced in Malans and a little bit in Jenins and destemmed but fermented as whole berries in enameled steel vats for 14–20 days, the 2021 Pinot Noir Tradition offers a pure, fresh and spicy, refreshing phenolic nose of red cherries and wild berries. Aged in used pièces for nine months and bottled in September last year, this is an elegant, fresh and straightforward Pinot Noir with a silky texture and refreshing phenolic grip. Vinous (94)The 2021 Teroldego Sgarzon is an elegant beauty. Roses and cloves complement bright cherries and strawberries. It's silky to the core, balancing sweet red fruits and acidity, creating a perfectly harmonious red. The Sgarzon finishes remarkably fresh yet potent and long, with a framing of gentle tannins, and licorice and mineral hints that linger on. The 2021 is quite possibly the prettiest interpretation of Sgarzon to date. |

Indulge in a bottle of Gantenbein Pinot Noir 2019, a distinguished offering from the Swiss vineyard run by Martha and Daniel Gantenbein. Originating from Flasch in the Graubünden region, this exquisite wine combines a classic Burgundian style with a modern touch. Noticeably elegant, Gantenbein Pinot Noir 2019 is marked by its gentle, nuanced tannins and an alluring, silky mouthfeel. The old vines that produced this wine were grown on the slopes of the Rhine Valley, offering desirable exposure and lean, stony soil. Barrel-aged for eighteen months in new French oak, it imparts notes of ripe cherry, wild strawberry, and light spice. Layered and luxurious, the wine displays a depth and complexity that have become the hallmark of the Gantenbein label. As a testament to careful viticulture and attention to detail, Gantenbein Pinot Noir 2019 stands as a phenomenally expressive wine that will evolve beautifully over the years. |

Wine Advocate (96+)Bottled in early March, the 2020 Pinot Noir is pure, precise and intense on the more classic, coolish and noble nose that shows a spellbinding purity, intensity and balance. Absolutely marvelous. Full-bodied, round and intense on the palate, this is a generously juicy, ripe yet fine and concentrated, also refreshingly salty and crystalline Pinot with a tight, sustainable structure and an enormously long and intense finish. This is a highlight of the Gantenbein Saga. Tasted at the domaine in March 2022. |

Wine Advocate (97+)The 2015 San Leonardo pours forth with a beautiful velvety appearance and sultry dark garnet color. This wine shows a lot of life and dark fruit purity with black plum, blackberry, cassis and tarry prune. There is a delightful note of black pepper that is specific to this warm and sunny vintage. The fruit shows softer and richer concentration compared to past vintages and more pulpy density that gives this edition a bigger profile in terms of mouthfeel. Production is 75,000 bottles. San Leonardo is a wine made for long aging, but the nice thing about this vintage is that the bouquet remains quite accessible at this young age. Nevertheless, I'd still suggest keeping this bottle in your cellar so that it can calmly finish its evolution. |

Vinous (96)Another year in bottle has added unexpected depths and dimension to the 2016 San Leonardo. It wafts up with an alluring bouquet of smoky black currant and plum skins, complicated by savory herbs, hints of white pepper and fresh tobacco. It's hard chiseled edges have formed into smooth contours now, velvety yet youthfully dense, washing mineral encased dark red and black berries across a core of brisk acidity as a combination of saline-minerals and grippy tannins add tension toward the close. This finishes incredibly long yet also structured, begging for time in the cellar, as hints of licorice and earth tones grumble under an air of inner violet florals. The potential within the 2016 San Leonardo is off the charts, yet it will require a good amount of time to come fully into focus. Bury your bottles deep. |
