The Hospices de Beaune Pouilly Fuisse Cuvee Francoise Poisard 2014 is a quintessential expression of French Chardonnay of distinction. This exquisite wine originates from the famed vineyards of Pouilly Fuisse within the prestigious Maconnais region of Burgundy. Managed by the historic Hospices de Beaune, whose viticultural excellence dates back to the 15th century, this wine bears the name of its benefactor, Madame Françoise Poisard. The 2014 vintage, made under the meticulous supervision of celebrated winemaker, Ludivine Griveau, enjoyed an extended fermentation with full malolactic conversion in oak barrels. The outcome is a wine imbued with an intricate palette of aromas, from delicate white flowers to ripe orchard fruits. On the palate, gentle hints of oak intertwine with the vibrant freshness of Chardonnay to produce an irresistible complexity and length. Indulge in the Hospices de Beaune Pouilly Fuisse Cuvee Francoise Poisard 2014 for an authentic taste of Burgundian sophistication. |

Vinous (93)The 2020 Pouilly-Fuissé Les Courtelongs 1er Cru, which comes from north-orientated vines on red limestone soils, is very harmonious on the nose, perhaps more understated than other cuvées from Saumaize-Michelin. The palate is very well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, very saline in the mouth, hints of bitter lemon and a dab of spice, very persistent on the finish. An intellectual (as well as quite delicious) Pouilly-Fuissé in the making. |

Vinous (91)(14% alcohol with 4.7 g/l acidity and a low pH): Bright yellow. Deeply pitched aromas of ripe stone fruits and smoky silex. Thick, quite dry and powerful, with tactile saline minerality conveying a strong impression of dusty extract. Impressive buffering material here. Finishes strong and long. These vines were harvested on August 30, said enologist Julien Desplans, who believes that this wine will evolve in bottle for at least 12 years. He noted that the 2002 version is still good today. |

Wine Advocate (94)From low-yielding Cabernet Franc vines that average 45 years of age and root in the silex clay soils of the côte, the 2019 Bourgueil Le Grand Clos opens with a pure, fine and intense, concentrated but also aromatic and fragrant bouquet of dark and red fruits and crushed stones along with refreshing lemony and spicy notes. Round and very elegant on the palate, this is a beautifully balanced Grand Clos with a concentrated finish with tight but fine tannins and a fresh acidity that gives a positive astringency. The aftertaste is long and intense but always in balance and underlines the remarkable finesse of this wine that aged for 12 to 18 months in 400-liter tonneaux. Tasted in June 2021. |

Wine Advocate (93+)From vines averaging 45 years of age on the slopes of the Coteau and aged in oak barrels for 20 months, the 2018 Bourgueil Les Quartiers opens with a deep, intense and toasty bouquet of ripe, black berries and blackcurrants intermixed with spicy tones, cigar box and graphite. Silky, refined and fresh on the palate, this is an elegant, tight but vivacious, silky-textured Cabernet Franc with crystalline tannins and a long finish that is still oak-influenced in its flavors, but the structure, finesse and intensity and the very delicate raspberry flavor in the aftertaste indicate excellent aging potential. Personally, I prefer the crus that were partly aged in stoneware (amphorae) and also for a shorter period, whereas Les Quartiers represents the old Amirault style, before 2014. |
