If you’ve ever seen a postcard of a Scottish fishing village, chances are it was Tobermory. The iconic village on the cost of the fabled Isle of Mull, is known for its colourful waterfront and picturesque fleet of fishing and pleasure craft in its ancient harbour. The village and the isle is picturesque for sure and has a rich history of sunken Spanish treasure, Viking raiders and some of the earliest Gaelic-speaking arrivals to Scotland. It is only fitting that one of the most beloved distilleries in the country is located here; the eponymous Tobermory Distillery. Best known for their gentle Island spirit, closers in style to Scapa and lighter Northern Islay malts, Tobermory is a gloriously pleasurable whisky, highly sought after by collectors and with a dedicated core of devotees. On the cask market, it proves as elusive as the galleon's treasure in Tobermory Bay. |

Highland Park Distillery is one of the world’s greatest single malt whiskies. In 2018, Highland Park ranked 2nd behind only Macallan in volume of auction sales. Located on the island of Orkney, the distillery was founded in 1798 by Magnus Eunson. Eunson was a colourful character who was a butcher and church warden by day and an illicit whisky smuggler by night! |

Tim Atkin MW (98)Overall Red Wine of the Year - Chile 2022 Special Report. Well, well, well. Who would have anticipated this? My best Chilean red wine of the year is a Malbec - and not just any Malbec. Roca Madre is an incredible, world-class red from the volcanic soils of the Río Hurtado vineyard, located at 1,600 metres in the remote Limarí Andes. Racy, tangy, grippy and intensely perfumed, it's an incredible expression of the variety, with violet, plum and black cherry concentration, fine-grained tannins and a pithy, energetic, mineral-etched core. |
