Vinous (97)(a berry-by-berry selection from the bottom of the slope; this never goes through malo; 195 g/l r.s.; bottled in 375-ml. format): Bright medium gold. Classic, high-toned scents of dried apricot, honey, crumbly buttery pastry shell and toffee. Incredibly dense and thick but also surprisingly racy, with its utterly seamless flavors of dried fruits, spices, hazelnut and marzipan framed and carried by almost lemony acidity. Wonderfully penetrating, exhilaratingly high-toned wine with great texture, lift and length. This is really a remarkable thing to do with Chardonnay. |

Wine Advocate (89)Raised entirely in stainless steel, the 2016 Saint-Véran was showing very well, wafting from the glass with notes of lemon oil, honeysuckle and pastry cream. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, concentrated and powerful, with succulent underlying acidity, concluding with a stony, saline finish. Cropped at a mere 12 hectoliters per hectare, it nevertheless remains quite classical in profile—there's simply somewhat more flesh and concentration than usual. |

Vinous (91)The 2018 Saint-Véran is a blend of vineyards that expanded with the acquisition of additional vines in 2016. It has a crisp, stony, surprisingly reserved bouquet with touches of gravel and flint. The very well-balanced palate offers a slightly oily/resinous texture, good definition and a long finish. Superb. |

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (86)Made from 10 plots covering 13 ha, vinified and aged in a mix of stainless steel, concrete, demi-muids and foudres for one year, then all is blended in tank before bottling in January. A fairly full yellow in colour with some sunshine alongside the definite reductive character. The bouquet grows in richness, with ripe apple notes. A juicy quality of fruit, even a little bit buttery, salted butter for sure. 13.2% alcohol. |

Burghound (89-92)An intricately layered nose freely offers up its combination of ripe white and yellow orchard fruit, especially peach, and less floral but spicier aromas. The rich, textured and vibrant flavors possess very fine mid-palate density that brims with dry extract on the sappy finish that is supported by lemon-tinged acidity. This is a big and powerful St. Véran that isn't elegant but offers much to like. 2024+ Sweet Spot Outstanding |

The Verget Saint Veran 2017, a sterling vintage hailing from the revered vineyards of Saint Veran in Southern Burgundy, epitomises the unique terroir of the Maconnais region. Crafted by the celebrated wine producer, Verget, this Chardonnay-based wine exhibits a blend of refined elegance and vibrancy. On the palates of connoisseurs, keen notes of golden apple, pear, and a hint of citrus blossoms unfold, underscored by a subtle mineral quality. The Verget Saint Veran 2017 is matured for 8 to 10 months in a mix of old barrels and stainless steel tanks, culminating in a wine that is both captivating and complex. An unassuming masterpiece, it's a monument to Verget's passionate pursuit of expressing Burgundy's terroir in every bottle. |
