Vintage Tastings (95). Next up was a superb wine that most were convinced was a Guigal La La wine. There was so much menthol, bacon and violety fruit it had to be! The palate was meaty, fine and long with great purity |

Wine Advocate (87)The 1961 is very good but not in the top class of wines from this vintage. Certainly rich, flavorful, and concentrated with fruit, this wine represents a rather rare phenomenon for Poyferre during a period of mediocrity. Dark ruby, with an attractive cedary, spicy, mature bouquet, on the palate, the 1961 Leoville-Poyferre is deep, supple, ripe, and long, but fully mature. Anticipated maturity: Now. Last tasted, 3/80. |

Jeb Dunnuck (100)I've been lucky enough to have had the 1982 Château Pichon-Longueville Comtesse De Lalande a half dozen times over the past few years and it continues to show magically. Tasted out of a magnum, it has a still lively plum/ruby hue as well as gorgeous Pauillac notes of blackcurrants, smoked earth, cedarwood, pencil lead, and forest floor. It's unquestionably fully mature and in that sweet spot where it has incredible aromatics, beautiful, sweet fruit, no hard edges, and a gorgeous finish. I don't see it falling off a cliff any time soon, yet there's no need to delay gratification either. This is a magical, heavenly Bordeaux I wish every reader could taste. |

Hailing from the esteemed Rolet Père et Fils in Jura, the Rolet Arbois Trousseau 1982 is a standout French vin de garde. An exquisite spirit that brims with age yet radiates vitality. Renowned for its rarely paralleled concentration, this ruby-hued ensemble is lusciously tantalising. With each sip, this Rolet Arbois Trousseau 1982 unravels layers of black cherry and spicy notes, testifying to its storied maturity. Rounded out by a whisper of violet, balance is found in its harmonious palatal journey. A testament to Rolet's unwavering commitment to quality. Crafted traditionally in the Maison du Vigneron, the largest grower in Jura, France. The Rolet Arbois Trousseau 1982 exemplifies their distinguished method - a superb fusion of rigorous practices and patient maturation to nurture the wine's unique character. |
