D'Yquem 1990 (12x75cl)

Wine Advocate (98)

A warm to hot vintage ideal for producing outstanding reds does not necessarily make for a great Sauternes vintage, but in the case of 1990 it did. Dry, warm winds in the autumn contributed to the level of concentration that this wine exhibits. Fortunately, a little rain in late September and early October ensured that botrytis flourished well in the end, the final factor necessary to achieve this extraordinary expression.

Dom Perignon 1990 (9x75cl)

Wine Advocate (96)

The profoundly rich 1990 Dom Perignon is a creamy-textured, full styled offering that loses none of its elegance in spite of its flavor authority. It will improve for 5-10 years, and appears capable of surpassing the fabulous 1985 and 1982. It seems obvious that the quality of the 1990 Champagne vintage is going to be remarkable, and the world-wide demand will be unprecedented. The message - buy them now!

Linkwood (Gordon & MacPhail) Speyside Highland Single Malt Connoisseurs Choice First-fill Sherry Butt Cask 6961 30YO Bottled 2020 1990 (1x70cl)

Appearance: Deep mahogany courtesy of its lengthy time in first-fill sherry wood.

Nose: Intense aromas of polish and caramel followed by black cherry and treacle toffee notes.

Palate: Warm flavours of freshly baked walnut bread alongside orange peel, cinnamon and cloves.

Finish: Lengthy and very warming with waves of lingering pipe tobacco, candied citrus peel and stewed fruits.

Margaux 1990 (1x75cl)

Wine Advocate (100)

The 1990 Chateau Margaux has turned into a sensational wine that eclipses both the 1988 and 1989...and then some. It has a gorgeous, ethereal bouquet with sumptuous red berry fruit, leather, camphor and licorice—it is the kind of nose in which you just immerse yourself. Is there a hint of brettanomyces here? If there is, I don't really care. The palate is soft and sensual with incredible depth. Fleshy and corpulent for Chateau Margaux, and yet surfeit with breeding and finesse, there are layers or red fruit, kirsch, sage and fig, later tobacco and cloves. I feel that this 1990 Château Margaux is at its peak and yet the harmony, the sheer swagger of this wine just wins you over. Magnificent. Tasted May 2016.
