You really start to see the project come into focus, and this is a successful vintage at Pym Rae even in a challenging year, so they should be very happy with what they have achieved. Vineyards at 600m altitude, dry-farmed with crop cover and no till to help retain moisture. It has now been five years since they took over and stopped all irrigation, and the balance in this wine suggests that the vines are beginning to respond and find their balance. Held back in bottle for 18 months before release. Tasted straight from bottle and with a carafe - I strongly suggest giving it plenty of air if planning to drink soon. North America is somewhat difficult to pigeonhole – though technically ‘new world’, it is In the Northern Hemisphere, and the wines have the same devoted fan base (and often first-growth prices) as many classic European wines. Cooler climate Cabs, Merlots, Pinots, Chardonnays and Rieslings with old-world structure can all be found, though if anything is lacking by comparison it is consistency.
