Vinous (98)
The 2012 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Réservé is at the start of its broad drinking window. Prominent kirsch liqueur, forest floor, strawberry compote, dried meat, rosemary, pressed violets and sage are only some of the many aromas and flavors that jump out of the glass. Refined to the core, the athletic 2012 packs a laser-like focus and flawlessly integrates the elevated alcohol. This is a remarkably uplifting Rayas with less obvious punch compared to riper years like 2009 or 2010, but the levels of intensity and finesse are jaw-dropping.Inc. VAT£5,307.80 -
The Wine Independent (99)
The 2013 Tenuta San Guido Sassicaia was one of the stars of this vertical for me and a big surprise. It is just so graceful and harmonious. The aromas and flavors are brighter and in sharper focus and the tannins are even more seamless than before. Carlo Paoli told me that he also loves this vintage - the weather conditions were so good, with no excess of heat or rain. As he says, "Everything was slow, calm and beautiful." The 2013 Sassicaia reflects this ease. The palate has a lovely combination of a velvety texture, with just the right weight, and thrilling acidity. Kerin O'Keefe (98)
All about radiance and finesse, this iconic, stunning Tuscan red has beguiling aromas recalling cedar, wild red berry, menthol and pipe tobacco that mingle with a whiff of fragrant blue flower. Made with 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Cabernet Franc, the focused, elegantly structured palate is vibrant and savory, delivering cassis, orange zest, licorice and a hint of coffee framed in taut, polished tannins. Floral edge, with a ton of crayon and cocoa bean, love the sculpted character, bitter aniseed and fennel, characterful and hard to resist, sappy and juicy with mouthwatering finish, just beginning to flirt with its drinking window. Sylvain Dittiere Saumur-Champigny La Porte Saint Jean 2020 is a focused, site-driven red from France’s Loire, in Saumur-Champigny, made by Sylvain Dittière at Domaine La Porte Saint Jean. Dittière is widely recognised in leading wine publications for a meticulous, low-intervention approach that privileges Cabernet Franc’s purity and the limestone expression for which the appellation is prized. Fruit is sourced from carefully farmed parcels and worked with restraint in the cellar, with gentle extraction and élevage designed to preserve aromatic lift and fine-grained structure rather than overt oak character.
In 2020, the wine presents Saumur-Champigny’s hallmark profile: vivid red and black fruits, a savoury edge, and a chalky, linear palate with precise tannins. Served lightly cool, it rewards decanting and will develop beautifully in bottle.

The 2020 Barolo Berri is the bomb. Rich, racy and explosive, the 2020 Berri remains one of the very best wines in this young estate's history. It has started to close down a bit, especially in its aromatics, but its purity of fruit—the quality I have always admired most—is still very much present. What a wine!Inc. VAT£231.58 -
