Dark red. The captivating, complex nose offers urgent aromas of red cherry, dried redcurrant, brown spices, roasted coffee, violet, botanical herbs and licorice. Sweet, ripe and velvety, with wonderful inner-mouth perfume to the flavors similar to the aromas. Finishes long and suave, but with a very firm spine. La Mattonara is a lieu-dit; this wine is made from a selection of grapes picked in Zymé’s oldest vineyards (up to 50 years old). It mixes medicinal cherry and crushed blackberry with sweet balsam herbs and hints of cocoa. This is opulence personified, impossibly rich and velvety, mixing both savory and sweet while saturating the senses with wild berry preserves contrasted by sour citrus.
