We skipped over the 2010 vintage because Lodovico Antinori is less pleased with that wine's evolution. There is little doubt, however, concerning the massive appeal of the 2009 Biserno. Specifically, I need to underline how beautifully the wine is drinking at this very moment in time. If you have a bottle, it's time to pop that cork. You will be treated to a beautifully balanced wine that feels ever so natural and comfortable in its plus-sized intensity. The wine walks with a heavy gait, but it does so with the impeccable grace of a classic dancer. Dark fruit segues to spice, leather, smoke and cigar box. Compared to the other wines in this vertical tasting, the 2012 Biserno plays its cards closer to the chest. This vintage is linear, tight and ultimately less expressive when you really get down to it. The bouquet is characterized by its sharp directness. All the essential elements are there, and the aromas do very much deliver what you should expect of this important Tuscan blend of noble Bordeaux grapes. The 2019 Biserno is flush with graphite mineral aromas and another layer of depth and complexity, with balsamic, Mediterranean herbs, and dark chocolate. The palate is full, structured, and ripe with kirsch and a dark chocolate covered cherry. It has an elegant touch of French oak, with cedar, vanilla bean, and more turned mineral earth. Glänzendes, intensives Rubinrot-Violett. Zeigt in der Nase grandioses Spiel, nach Koriandersamen und Kardamom, sehr klar, dahinter viel Brombeere. Fruit comes from a four-hectare parcel of alberello (bush-trained) vines in Contrada Spadatrappo (in Biancavilla). The wine is showing beautifully right now and promises more excellence to carry it forward over the years. At the moment, it is seamless and infinite with a superior sense of balance and dark fruit integrity. It speaks in a loud, clear and articulate voice. This wine will be released in 2019. The spectacular 2015 Lodovico is shaping up to be wine of stratospheric intensity, depth and succulence. Lodovico is a six-hectare parcel found within the greater Bellaria vineyard (that makes the Biserno wine) at this important estate in Bibbona, Coastal Tuscany. The entire site is planted to Bordeaux grapes Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. This vintage delivers power and momentum that drives this wine smoothly over the palate. The bouquet is seamless with dark fruit tones that segue to spice, tar, smoke and cured leather. This is the sixth vintage to be produced. Glänzendes, intensives Rubinrot-Violett. Zeigt in der Nase grandioses Spiel, nach Koriandersamen und Kardamom, sehr klar, dahinter viel Brombeere. Satt in Ansatz und Verlauf, entfaltet sich mit viel geschmeidigem, dichtmaschigem Tannin, baut sich in vielen Schichten auf, dunkle Beerenfrucht, im Finale würzig. Shiny, intense ruby red violet. On the nose shows great game, after coriander seeds and cardamom, very clear, behind it a lot of blackberry. Produced since 2007 in Bibbona, bordering Bolgheri, Lodovico is a relatively young label managed by Lodovico Antinori. Annual production is below 10,000 bottles, and the exact blend is not revealed. Cabernet Franc-based, blended with tiny amounts of Merlot and Petit Verdot, the wine is fermented in stainless steel and aged 16 months in barrique, with notably less racking compared to an equivalent Bordeaux. The 2018 is not completely representative (try the outstanding and more concentrated 2016), but it describes fairly well the graceful, Margaux-like elegance of this SuperTuscan. Parma Violets, cedar, eucalyptus, wild raspberry and coffee grounds outline its complexity. Silky tannins are integrated with refreshing acidity.In Bond£820.00 -

The Tenuta di Fessina 2022 Etna Bianco A' Puddara (in the bottle with the dark blue label) shows an enhanced mineral side with sharp contours, which is contrasted against a creamy side with orchard fruit and saffron. This is a mid-weight release of 11,500 bottles that was aged in large French oak casks for 12 months on the fine lees followed by an additional 12 months in bottle. Fruit comes from a four-hectare parcel of alberello (bush-trained) vines in Contrada Spadatrappo (in Biancavilla). The 1999 Tenuta di Trinoro (70% Cabernet Franc, 20% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Petit Verdot) presents a distinctly over-ripe, almost raisinated personality, along with notes of chocolate and sweet toasted oak on a massively concentrated frame, with outstanding length and a lingering touch of sweetness on the finish. It shows excellent balance but should be a relatively early-maturing Tenuta di Trinoro. If you ask Andrea Franchetti to name his two favorite vintages of the past, they are 2001 and 2009. The 2009 Tenuta di Trinoro is indeed an outstanding blend of 40% Cabernet Franc, 30% Merlot, 26% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Petit Verdot. The wine is showing beautifully right now and promises more excellence to carry it forward over the years. At the moment, it is seamless and infinite with a superior sense of balance and dark fruit integrity. It speaks in a loud, clear and articulate voice. The wine's appearance shows a dark, impenetrable color that underlines the ideal growing conditions of the vintage and the slow fruit-ripening. The aromas are stunning and perfectly balanced, showing both elegance and power.
