Vinous (100)The 2016 Trinoro is one of the most extraordinary wines I have ever tasted from Trinoro and proprietor Andrea Franchetti. Deep and yet also silky, with exceptionally refined tannins and exquisite balance, the 2016 has so much to recommend it. Dark raspberry jam, white chocolate, mint and rose petal notes are all finely knit in this sublime, exquisitely beautiful wine. The finish alone boasts mind-bending intensity and persistence. |

Wine Advocate (98+)Andrea Franchetti's 2018 Tenuta di Trinoro reminds me of the wines he made a decade ago or more. This dark, full and concentrated red blend shows a good amount of the power and the ripe, fruit-forward appeal that I associate with the wines made from those golden years from 2001 to 2007. There is a beautiful fullness and opulence here that wraps thickly over the palate with blackberry, rum cake, charred meat and black licorice. This blend of 59% Cabernet Franc and 41% Merlot offers up aromas of spice, mahogany and some of the grilled herbs or rosemary that you would associate with the Cabernet. The finish is super long and rich, with elegant tannins and lasting fruit momentum. Despite that slightly retro or nostalgic full-throttle bouquet that I described above, the mouthfeel is more tapered, fine and ethereal that you might expect. Some 7,000 bottles were made. You get all sorts of surprises from this beautiful, soulful wine. |

Wine Advocate (100)This is a stunning wine and one of the best in this report covering the icons of Tuscany. The 2019 Tenuta di Trinoro is a blend of 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Franc. Fruit is sourced from the very best parcels, and the blending formula changes according to vintage and the style desired by vintner Andrea Franchetti. These vineyard parcels vary in altitude, ranging from 400 to 600 meters above sea level, and the soils are quite varied with pockets of clay, sand and rock. The Trinoro is profoundly deep and pure with a solid core of black fruit that is framed by an elegant contour of spice, tobacco, smoke and crushed stone. To the palate, the wine is long and the finish can be counted in minutes, but the entire experience is beautifully streamlined and velvety. This vintage saw an important freeze event on the 7th of May, and 9,000 fire candles were lit in the lower vineyard blocks to fight off frost damage. |

Wine Advocate (97)The flagship wine from Tenuta di Trinoro is this gorgeous blend of 92% Cabernet Franc and 8% Merlot. The 2020 Tenuta di Trinoro follows on the heels of the 2019 vintage that earned a perfect 100-point score. The 2020 vintage is more open-knit for sure, but it offers a very special view onto Cabernet Franc in particular. The plush black cherry softness of the Merlot is aligned magically with the dark intensity and tannic power of the Cabernet Franc. The fruit ripeness is impeccable and there are no green tones, nor are there any overripe nuances. Everything comes together with balance. For the first time, this wine is being released with an extra year of bottle age. 6,000 bottles were made. |

Vinous (94)Franchetti's 2011 Palazzi, 100% Merlot, in this vintage is captivating in its beauty. Freshly cut flowers, lavender, violets, mint, cloves and plums literally jump from the glass. Despite its opulent, full-throttle personality, the 2011 is beautifully balanced. Ripeness is pushed to the extreme, that is for sure, but nevertheless all the elements are very much in the right place. I am not sure how the 2011 will age, but it should drink beautifully for at least a handful of years. |

There’s amazing dimension and youthful density here, all in a harmonious state, as the 2019 tapers off lightly structured and with a penetrating citrus intensity that lingers. Vinous (94+)The 2019 Terlaner Riserva Nova Domus opens slowly in the glass, but is worth the wait, as a delicate mix of pretty spring flowers, wet slate, crushed pear and hints of lime zests waft up from the glass. It’s silky and round in feel. Lifting acidity and minerals energize the expression as savory spices and rich orchard fruits flesh out across the palate. There’s amazing dimension and youthful density here, all in a harmonious state, as the 2019 tapers off lightly structured and with a penetrating citrus intensity that lingers. There’s much more beneath the surface here, which only cellaring with unlock. A stunning Nova Domus. This is a blend of 60% Pinot Bianco, 30% Chardonnay and 10% Sauvignon. |
