Vinous (94+)Once again, the 2015 Barolo Via Nuova shows why the blending of several sites was the approach favored by Barolo producers until the 1960s, when the fascination for single-vineyard wines started to take off. Maybe the old-times knew something after all. Silky and fragrant, with exceptional balance, the 2015 is positively striking. Medium in body and layered, the 2015 has a very bright future. What a gorgeous wine it is. The Via Nuova was aged in equal parts cask and barrique. |

Vinous (100)In my opinion, the 2016 Barolo Via Nuova is the single greatest Barolo Chiara Boschis has made in her storied career. A monumental, thrilling wine, the Via Nuova captures all the best the vintage had to give. Explosive in the glass, with stunning aromatic depth, the 2016 is drop-dead gorgeous from the very first taste. Dark macerated cherry, lavender, spice, menthol and rose petal are kicked up a few notches from underlying veins of acidity and tannin that give the wine its energy and drive. The 2016 is a wine of extraordinary harmony, purity and finesse with an eternal finish. The 2016 Barolo Via Nuova is a blend of seven plots: Terlo, Liste, Paiagallo, Ravera di Monforte, Mosconi, Gabutti and Baudana. |

Readers will find a seamless, wonderfully complete Barolo. Dried flowers, herbs, mint, rose petal, kirsch and orange zest lend notable complexity throughout. Jeb Dunnuck (94)The 2020 Via Nuova is a very seductive vintage with a lot of elegance, revealing lovely, lifted aromas of licorice, fresh raspberries, sweet tea leaf, and lilac. Medium-bodied, the wine is approachable and elegant all the way through, with refined tannins, refreshing acidity, and a long, even finish. It has a hint of warmth but is well-balanced. Wine Advocate (94)This wine is really quite lovely and memorable. The Chiara Condello 2020 Romagna Sangiovese Predappio Riserva Le Lucciole (a certified organic wine) delivers a bright and punchy character, which, unlike the more concentrated Lo Stralisco, is very lifted and vertical in personality. There is ample freshness here that leads to lots of energy and zest over a mid-weight close. This is my favorite wine in this group. Unfortunately, production is limited to 4,500 bottles. The Le Lucciole site is under one hectare in size. |

Vinous (92+)The 2020 Sangiovese Romagna Predappio is spicy and deep, with sweet rose and dusty black cherries accentuated by hints of ash and mint. This is undeniably elegant in feel, washing silken waves of ripe wild berries across the palate that leave a mineral staining, along with sweet inner herbal tones. It finishes with a lingering concentration and super-fine tannins as tobacco and cocoa notes slowly fade. The 2020 will require a bit more time in bottle to soften its contours, but it’s packed full of potential. It’s hard to think of this as Chaira Condello’s entry-level wine. |

Following on from the remarkable efforts of 2017 and 2018, the 2019 Carema from micro-estate Chiussuma admirably builds on thestrength of the previous two vintages and represents just the 4th release from this rapidly ascending superstar producer. The quintessential Carema, capturing the essence of the high-altitude conditions and rocky mica-schist soils. Perfumed, fine-boned and structured for an extensive period in the cellar this is a compelling example of why the region has been dubbed the Chambolle-Musigny of the Alto Piemonte.

A wine that punches well above its weight, challenging many a cru La Morra for elegance, balance and longevity in its structure, this is a well-made wine that offers an eloquent insight in to the charms of this most elegant of terroirs making up the patchwork quilt of Barolo. Fine, juicy red and black berry fruit and a subtle floral bitterness to the palate make this essential reading for the vintage. |

Indulge in the exquisite taste of Ciabot Berton Barolo Roggeri 2015, a truly premium Italian wine rooted in centuries-old winemaking traditions. This exceptional Barolo, hailing from the steep, south-facing slopes of La Morra in Piedmont, elegantly embodies the distinctive terroir. Ciabot Berton, an esteemed family-run vineyard since the 19th century, has artfully crafted this wine with 100% Nebbiolo grapes. Matured for 24 months in Slavonian oak barrels and further refined in the bottle, it exhibits a profound garnet hue, hallmark of its full-bodied character. On the nose, it releases an evocative bouquet of dried roses and ripe berries, while on the palate, it harmonises layered notes of licorice, black cherry, and subtle spices. Tannins are beautifully balanced, lending complexity and depth for an immaculate finish. A collectable vintage, Ciabot Berton Barolo Roggeri 2015 is an exceptional wine that eloquently expresses the quintessence of its origin. Pair it with hearty dishes or linger over it in quiet contemplation. |

Wine Advocate (92+)Like the other wines I tasted from Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona this year, I am surprised by the soft ripeness achieved in the 2014 Brunello di Montalcino. This was a cool and soggy vintage so those dark and sweet fruit flavors are counterintuitive. However, they elevate the wine to a higher intensity threshold and a more profound flavor profile. The wine offers enough crisp acidity and tannic firmness to hold it tightly together at this young stage in its lifespan. Some 60,000 bottles were released. |

Wine Spectator (96)Exuding cherry, strawberry, floral and tobacco aromas and flavors, this effusive, fruity style is bright and elegant, with terrific harmony and a long, mouthwatering finish that leaves a mineral impression. Very compelling. Best from 2020 through 2036. |

James Suckling (98)Extremely perfumed and decadent with dried flowers and spices and fresh mushrooms. Cherries, too. Full body. Solid core of fruit, yet ever so fine tannins. Goes on for minutes. Such beautifully crafted tannins. Drink after 2021. |
