Fantastic Value from the Queen of Australian Sustainable Winemaking
She was named the 'Best Winemaker of the Year' in 2020 by James Halliday's Wine Companion, in addition to 'Winemaker of the Year' at the 2019 Australian Women in Wine Awards, Vanya is steering the Margaret River on a very successful course. The combination of her sustainability projects and truly epic wines have made Cullen one of the most famous estate's in the Western Australian.
Today we have the new release of her excellent value Cullen Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc/Semillon 2017. Costing just over £18 per bottle IB and scoring double 95 points from James Halliday and JamesSuckling.com's Nick Stock, this 'complex yet refreshing' (JH) blend ticks all the boxes.
Made from a blend of 79% Sauvignon Blanc and 21% Semillion, there is a hint of the richness that you would get from a high-quality white Bordeaux 'due to the Cullen Vineyard source' (JH) while still remaining 'fresh and vibrant' (NS). The palate is 'grassy and attractively fresh', with notes of tropical fruits, apple, pear and citrus all swirl on the palate before leading 'long and elegantly into the crisp finish' (NS).
Released at only £95 per case IB, the Cullen Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc Semillon 2017 is a biodynamic value gem from a producer at the top of her game. Don't miss it.
