Dom Pérignon 2010 is a wine that has excelled in a troubled vintage. Jancis Robinson awards a superb 18.5/20 points, placing it on par with the revered 2006 (18.5), a higher score than she gives to 2002 (18) and just shy of 2008 (18.5++).

Dom Pérignon have proven their first-class expertise in creating a wine that against the odds competes with the finest vintages of recent years. A good year for Chardonnay, but sadly intense rainfall in mid-August spread Botrytis and damaged the prospects of a full Pinot Noir harvest. Cellar-master Richard Geoffrey and Chef de Cave Vincent Chaperon reforged this usually Pinot-dominated or 50-50 blend to create a majority Chardonnay cuvée that has impressed the critics.

Champagne expert and previous Decanter writer, Essi Avellan MW praises their achievements awarding 95-97 points to this "gorgeous... impeccably crisp" wine "with a superbly saline and perfectly pristine finish... this is undoubtedly a Dom Pérignon that will keep on giving".

When we tasted it with Vincent over video call we found it to be a lovely open and expressive Dom. Vincent said "the truth of a wine is in the finish" and nothing can be more evident then 2010s satisfying saline length.

2010 releases with a 20% decrease on production and no 2011 will be made. Dom Pérignon always thrives on the secondary market, with collectors and drinkers snapping it up. 2010 is so generous and an absolute joy to enjoy straight away, you can't go wrong with this champagne icon.
