Seña & Rocas de Seña 2021
Founded in 1995 by Chadwick and Napa legend Mondavi, the two partners embarked on a four-year quest before discovering a singular vineyard nestled in the heart of Chile's Aconcagua Valley, boasting a distinctive micro-climate. Situated a mere 40km from the Pacific Ocean, the vineyards enjoy the tempering influence of the cooling maritime breezes, resulting in the creation of Seña, perhaps Chile's most adored and sought-after Bordeaux-blend.
Renowned for its refined acidity, elegance, and graceful finesse, Seña is a truly extraordinary wine, consistently earning no less than 96 points from Wine Advocate since 2013. This remarkable success can be attributed to the unrivalled expertise of Chile's most celebrated winemaker, Francisco Baettig, who serves as both the winemaker and technical director of this illustrious wine. Baettig's instinctive and meticulous decisions, both in the vineyard and the cellar, ensure unwavering quality across vintages.
In 2021, Viña Seña has done it again in coaxing another perfect-scoring vintage. The culmination of ideal conditions in this "exceptional year" has given rise to a truly phenomenal wine, as confirmed by its impressive 100-point rating from James Suckling and 98+ points from Wine Advocate. Composed of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by 27% Malbec, 17% Carmenère, and 6% Petit Verdot, Seña 2021 exhibits "supreme quality" (JS) with its “impeccable tannins” (JS), “elegance, freshness, and poise” (JS).
Moreover, the 2021 vintage stands out not only for its exceptional quality but also for its comparatively lower price when compared to previous 100-point editions. This combination of superior quality and favourable pricing presents an enticing opportunity for collectors to secure a position for the long term.
In addition, we are delighted to present their “noteworthy second label” (WA), Rocas de Seña 2021. This captivating wine, dominated by a blend of 35% Malbec, 21% Syrah, and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, unveils a distinct aromatic and gustatory profile that sets it apart from Seña, characterized by its refined, chalky tannins. Garnering an impressive 96 points from James Suckling and 94 points from the Wine Advocate, it stands as a testament to its exceptional quality. Remarkably, Rocas de Seña is priced at approximately half the cost of Seña, making it an outstanding value choice from this esteemed winery.

James Suckling (100)
An extremely pure and elegant vintage for Seña. This is really fresh, nimble and floral on the nose with subtle cherries, plums, redcurrants and wild lavender. More red fruit here with lots of layers and just a touch of sweet spice. Very discreet and subtle, with the elegance, freshness and poise you’d expect from 2021. Medium- to full-bodied on the palate with a bit more flesh and depth if you compare it with Roca de Seña, their second wine. The impeccable tannins show the supreme quality of the fruit this year. Persistent, seamless finish, but comes in a subtle way. 50% cabernet sauvignon, 27% malbec, 17% carmenere and 6% petit verdot. Effortlessly drinkable now, but it will age beautifully.Inc. VAT£514.55
