The 2021 Meursault Village, this vintage a blend of all their vineyard holdings because the yield was so small (for example, just two barrels from half a hectare in Narvaux), has a taut and delineated bouquet with crushed stone infusing the malic aromas. The palate is well-balanced with a twist of lemon on the entry, segueing into more orange rind notes towards the finish. Moderate length. Enjoy this over the next decade.Inc. VAT£985.04 -

(6x75cl) 2022Wine Advocate (93)
The 2022 Meursault Village is lovely, unfurling in the glass with notes of citrus and crisp stone fruit mingled with white flowers, fresh hazelnuts and crushed rocks. Medium to full-bodied, with terrific density and cut, its satiny attack segues into a layered, structured mid-palate, concluding with a discreetly oak-inflected finish. This vintage should offer a comparatively broad drinking window.Inc. VAT£5,423.09 -
Vinous (94+)
Complex, lively aromas of lime, minerals and vanilla. Structured and almost shockingly intense; great material here. A step up from the '97 in density. Extremely fresh and vibrant. A tactile, mouthfilling wine to drink and to eat. Palate-staining finish. I kept raising my score as I came back for more.Inc. VAT£1,171.73 -
(1x75cl) 2003Vinous (90)
Pale color. Subdued aromas of licorice and spices, along with a faint resiny quality. Then rich, supple and strong in extract, with mineral and citrus flavors that are fresher than the nose suggests. Finishes with impressive length.Inc. VAT£1,646.93 -
Vinous (93+)
Very closed nose hints at wet stone. Rich and ripe in the mouth, with palate-saturating flavors of crushed stone and orange. As lush and sweet as this is, it avoids crossing over to exotic. Very deep and very young: should age very well for a 2006.Inc. VAT£1,721.84 -
(1x75cl) 2009Vinous (94)
Deep but bright aromas of crushed stone and cherry-almond. Fat and opulent; stuffed with soft citrus, spice and stone flavors. A wine of impressive volume, power and fullness but rather backward today. Finishes with lovely balance and superb length. Despite the wine's sheer size and ripeness, the terroir of Rougeots dominates the vintage.Inc. VAT£1,352.24 -
(1x75cl) 2016Wine Advocate (94+)
Offering up notes of lime oil, tart Anjou pear, peach kernels and sesame that are delicately framed by a judicious touch of new oak, the 2016 Meursault Les Rougeots is medium to full-bodied, deep and layered, with more texture and a denser, more blocky profile than the other village wines in the cellar this year, displaying considerable extract and a long, stony finish. Raphaël Coche notes that no one in his family can remember a time when Rougeots was so badly frosted, adding that neighboring Chevalières was entirely wiped out.Inc. VAT£2,108.00 -
(1x75cl) 2019Wine Advocate (94)
The 2019 Meursault Les Rougeots reveals notes of crisp Anjou pear, white flowers, orange oil, fresh bread, almond paste and vanilla pod. Medium to full-bodied, layered and concentrated, it's elegantly muscular, with terrific concentration, lively acids and chalky grip, concluding with a long, resonant finish. This is beautifully balanced and built to age.Inc. VAT£1,930.67 -
Vinous (94)
The 2020 Meursault Rougeots has a razor-sharp bouquet with yellow plum, honeysuckle and jasmine, very complex for Village Cru (though it has form!). The palate is beautifully balanced with fine acidity, waxy in texture, almond and orange pith mixed with a touch of stem ginger towards the composed yet persistent finish. Excellent.Inc. (1x75cl) 1999Vinous (96)
This 1999 Puligny-Montrachet Les Ensegnières perhaps sums up why Coche-Dury is so revered. How did Jean-François extract such a stupendous wine from a Village Cru? It exhibits breathtaking precision on a nose that is actually reminiscent of one of Lalou Bize-Leroy's wines from d'Auvenay. Both the nose and the palate effortlessly convey so much energy and tension. There is the depth and length of a Grand Cru with a tangy, spicy finish that urges you back for another sip. Magus Jean-François in full effect!Inc. VAT£1,939.73 -
(1x75cl) 2005Vinous (90+)
Subdued aromas of ripe peach and orange; I would have picked this as Meursault from the nose. Powerful, bright and sharply delineated but quite shocked by the bottling today and a bit awkward as a result. Today this very young wine lacks the sweetness of Coche's Meursault bottlings. Perhaps best on the long, well-defined aftertaste.Inc. VAT£1,939.45 -
Vinous (93)
Sexy aromas of peach and grilled nuts, plus the sulfidey complexity shown by so many of Coche's wines. Then ripe, supple and dry, with lovely lift and clarity to the mineral and floral flavors. Wonderfully juicy, pure wine with a very long, vibrant back end.Inc. VAT£1,171.04 -
(1x75cl) 2008Vinous (89+)
(these 2008s were bottled in April of this year) Exotic note of orange on the nose. Concentrated and juicy, with very good intensity and lift to the floral and spicy flavors and a strong spine of acidity to leaven the wine's sweetness. Distinctly less harmonious than the 2009s; in fact, almost angular today.Inc. VAT£1,102.64 -
(1x75cl) 2010Vinous (92+)
Reticent, pure aromas of white peach, hazelnut and minerals. Densely packed and urgent but youthfully tight, showing outstanding intensity and energy for village wine. The resounding, palate-staining finish displays outstanding structure and life. From a tiny crop, this almost painfully young wine should benefit from seven or eight years in the cellar.Inc. VAT£1,641.44 -
Vinous (91+)
Bright yellow. High-toned, lively aromas of peach and brown spices. Then tight for this wine in the early going, showing less opulence today than the Meursault Rougeots. Less fleshy than the young 2012 version but fine-grained and long, with good energy for the vintage.Inc. VAT£1,655.84 -
Wine Advocate (93)
The 2014 Puligny-Montrachet Les Enseignieres has a light apple blossom and lime-scented bouquet that needed some encouragement from the glass. It comes across more backward when compared to the 2015 Meursault Rougeot or Narvaux that preceded this wine at the domaine tasting. The palate offers candied orange peel on the entry that gallivants about with mandarin and grapefruit. It is hot-wired with a killer line of acidity that imbues this Puligny with supreme energy. The finish is pleasantly saline and offers a cheeky dab of lemongrass on the aftertaste. This is just superb.Inc. VAT£1,549.04 -
(1x75cl) 2015Vinous (91)
Broader on the nose than the village Meursault bottlings, offering scents of orange oil, peach, spices, minerals and oak char, plus a whiff of unabsorbed SO2. Dense, fat and concentrated; creamier than the Meursault from Narvaux but not heavy. This wine, too, conveys an impression of power. Finishes classically dry, strong and long, spreading out and vibrating on the back end.Inc. VAT£1,372.64 -
(1x75cl) 2018Burghound (93)
Outstanding. This is also quite floral in character with its array of honeysuckle, acacia and lavender notes that add a touch of elegance to the layered citrus, spice, pear and soft wood aromas. The rich, concentrated and opulent medium-bodied flavors are blessed with plenty of dry extract that soaks the palate while buffering the firm acid spine shaping the beautifully persistent finish. This needs to develop more depth with time in bottle but this exciting Puligny villages appears to be very promising.Inc. VAT£1,280.00 -

The 2020 Puligny-Montrachet Les Enseignières is especially successful this year, bursting from the glass with notes of crisp stone fruits, white flowers, blanched almonds, pastry cream and sesame oil. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and incisive, with a concentrated core of fruit, racy acids and striking purity and precision, it's an elegant, penetrating wine that stands out even in this very compelling portfolio.Inc. The 2021 Puligny-Montrachet Enseignères has a lovely bouquet, showing more complexity than the Meursault Village, crushed rock commingling with apple blossom and freshly sliced pear. The palate is very well-balanced with candied orange and citrus peel, taut and tensile, with a slightly austere yet captivating finish. If only all Puligny Village Crus could achieve this level of refinement.Inc. VAT£1,161.44 -

The 2019 Volnay 1er Cru—as usual, a blend of Taillepieds and Clos des Chênes—is lovely, unwinding in the glass with aromas of cherries, wild berries, raw cocoa and loamy soil.
