Emmanuel Rouget
Emmanuel Rouget is a nephew of Burgundy legend Henri Jayer, his mentorship passed on a infectious enthusiasm and deep knowledge of winemaking. He has stayed true to many of Henri’s preferences such as a focus of ultra low yields and maturing the major wines in 100% new oak barrels. His wines are much sought after.

Vinous (90-92)
The 2020 Vosne-Romanée Village has a quintessential floral bouquet with pressed violet infusing the red fruit, veins of blood orange emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied with palpable energy. Taut and fresh, this is a Vosne-Romanée Village that displays wonderful focus and might be my pick of Rouget’s wines if price is factored in. Vinous (89-91)
The 2021 Vosne-Romanée Village is perfumed, floral and pure on the nose with wilted violet petals infusing the red fruit - très Vosne. The palate is silky smooth with a fine body. This sample is taken from a new barrel so it has some François Frères imprint on the finish, but there is appreciable focus and length.Inc. VAT£1,947.20 -

(12x75cl) 2002Burghound (94)
An overtly spicy and beautifully nose is showing only traces of secondary fruit and ample Vosne character. There is both good richness and mid-palate density to the utterly delicious medium-bodied flavors that display good underlying tension while culminating in a wonderfully complex, lingering and balanced finale. Moreover, it shows none of the sometimes shrill acidity of the 2002 reds and thus the overall sense of balance is really quite lovely. I've had this several times over the years and it has always shown well. I would add that for my taste, this beauty is drinking perfectly now but it should continue to hold for at least another decade and perhaps more.Inc. VAT£36,839.80 -

(12x75cl) 2006Wine Advocate (93-94)
A sweet, spicy profusion of cinnamon, ginger, cocoa powder, lily perfume, maraschino, and kirsch soars from the glass of Rouget 2006 Echezeaux, which comes to the palate with unexpected depth and richness of roasted meats, chalk, and saline savor, though to be sure, the bright red fruits and spices never flag. This is positively vibratory as well as riveting in its dynamic, oscillating finishing complexity. I'd give it 3-4 years head start and then plan to follow it for another decade.Inc. VAT£24,383.04 -
