The 2016 La Cabanne has a pure, exuberant bouquet of luscious Merlot fruit, red cherries and crushed strawberry laced with truffle and cedar. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin and a fine line of acidity, and quite fresh toward the finish, leaving behind just a hint of spice on the aftertaste. The 2018 La Cabanne takes a few minutes to find its footing. It then reveals attractive blackberry, briary and light black truffle scents; with further aeration, more red fruit manifests. The palate is well balanced, lithe and pliant with supple tannins and well-integrated oak. Lovely orange pith notes develop toward the harmonious finish, which feels long and tender.
