Lagrange Pomerol

Wine Advocate (87)
The 2000 Lagrange is a spicy, tannic, firmly structured Pomerol that recalls the 1975. There is admirable stuffing , but astringent tannin and a closed, firm overall personality suggest patience will be a virtue. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2014.Inc. VAT£1,278.07 -

I’ve criticized many previous vintages of this Pomerol, but the 2019 Lagrange gives notice of improvements afoot. Now in bottle, it has a very pleasant and quite concentrated bouquet of black cherries, raspberry coulis and light truffle scents laced with blood orange. The palate is medium-bodied with quite a velvety entry and a ripe, slightly confit, spicy finish. A surprisingly plush and well-defined Lagrange that has lived up to its promise and is well worth checking out. A harbinger of things to come?Inc. VAT£606.58 -
James Suckling (95-96)
Absolutely beautiful with blackberry, walnut, crushed-stone and lavender character. It’s full-bodied and very layered with ultra fine tannins and an extremely long finish. Really well done for the vintage. Best in a long time.Inc. VAT£539.38 -
