Raveneau
Francois Raveneau, an elusive but stoic vigneron, founded the domaine in 1948. It is now run by Bernard and Jean-Marie, two brothers. They have miniscule yields of hand harvested Chardonnay in many of Chablis finest sites. Each of their holdings is no larger than a suburban house. This Burgundy has a cult following.

Vinous - Stephen Tanzer (91-93)
(still in cuve Pale lemon-yellow with a green tinge. Perfumed aromas of citrus fruits, powdered stone, ginger, curry powder and flowers. (1x75cl) 2010Vinous (92)
The 2010 Chablis Foret is rich, layered and totally sensual. A highly expressive tapestry of aromas and flavors emerges from the glass in this rich, textured wine. The Forest is all about harmony. The 2011 isn't the most complex Foret, but it is likely to drink better earlier than some of the other wines in this lineup because of its round, immediate personality.Inc. VAT£670.64 -

Aromas of pear, lemon and grapefruit, plus a lactic nuance that dissipated with air. Juicy and gentle, with vibrant, floral, mouthfilling flavors nicely framed by harmonious acidity. Fresh for the year but showing limited personality today. These vines were planted between 1992 and 2000.Inc. VAT£446.24 -

Bright, saline notes punctuate the highly expressive finish.Inc. VAT£5,488.01 -

The 2013 Chablis 1er Cru Fôrets has a very attractive, pine needle-tinged bouquet with a subtle mineral element (wet limestone) in the background. The palate is fresh on the entry with crisp acidity, clearly a level up from the village cru, with hints of shaved ginger flourishing toward the finish. This is showing nicely. There is something nonchalant about this Fôrets, although it needs perhaps just another year in bottle.Inc. VAT£661.16 -

The 2015 Chablis 1er Cru Forets has a tightly wound bouquet, perhaps a little resinous compared to other premier crus, with a touch of nutmeg developing with aeration. The 2016 Chablis Forêt 1er Cru is a little more tight-lipped on the nose compared to the Les Montmains, requiring more coaxing from the glass. That could be a sign of bottle shock. The palate is very promising with a crisp line of acidity, gentle grip and a live-wire, spicy finish that matches the exotic style of the vintage. This warms up in the glass and shows great potential, but may require your patience.Inc. VAT£700.76 -
